I enlisted today

Rex

New member
I went to Baltimore at 3:30 this moring. Arrived at 5am. Took the physical, and sat there for a long time. Swore in at about 4pm. Made it home at around 7 after stopping at the recruiting office.

I leave August 26th, and my MOS is military construction <combat engineer>.

Marine Corps. I was the only show up to enlist for the Marines today. A lot were shipping out though.

At swearing in an Air Force recruit said out loud about me "That kid, hes going into the Marines. Hes got to be crazy. Volunteering for that shit."

Crazy?...well maybe. :)

MEPS sure is a great time isn't it?:D

Lol. I was sitting there, waited a good 2 hours before any liasion made contact with me, looked at the guy next to me and said "They didn't show this in the brochure".

The schedule broke down like this:

0300- Recruiter calls me
0330- Head for MEPS
0500- Arrive at MEPS
0530- Move to full physical phase
0530-0700- They lost my ASVAB scores. Time spent finding them.
0700- Fill out physical forms
0830- Saw Dr. "Bend-over"
1030- All physical forms and tests finished
1030-1500- Waiting to speak with liaison
1500-1530- Details about contract
1600- Swore in.

The recruiter's arrived at my apartment about 7 years ago at 3:30 in the morning to take me to MEPS.

I didn't answer the door.

Go my girlfriend pregnant 2 months later. Been working a job I hate, stuck in an office for the last 5 years.

Sometime's I wonder what it would be like if I had opened the door.

You're going to find out.

Good luck with it, use your head, and be strong.

Thanks everyone. Bootcamp will be at Parris Island.

Oak: Best of luck with your getting in.

My man is at Parris Island right now and his biggest complaint is the food. He says it all
tastes the same b/c of what the put in it (he calls it soft peter?). Whatever it is, he says
that it works...just completed week 7 and still hasn't had wood. :destroy: GOOD LUCK!

Thats funny. I always just thought that it was a rumor when I was down there but I never had wood the entire time I was there not even morning wood! Could have been cause of the nerves but who knows. This guy a few bunks down would beat his meat atleast once a week! His bunkie that was below would yell up at him and tell him to cut it out. funny shit.

Anyway Good Luck REX. Not everyone can be a Marine! The few the proud. It was the best choice I ever made. You will love it.

Some people believe that it is just nerves, but only the recruits eat that food...so kinda makes you wonder....This is off the subject, but how did it change you??? I worried that he is going to come back so different. :(

Lamacita, this is a myth. If the army, navy or marines even remotely tried to do this they would have been exposed in the national media and crucified for it.

It is an urban legend. Nothing more.
