I don't think there is anything wrong with C&C

Peeps loved C&C long before karma millionares were even a thought, before karma really had anything to do with anything.
I mean, don't get me wrong, the karma is fun and it can make things interesting, but if karma never exhisted on EF at all, I think C&C would still be a very successful forum. When I came here in '04, C&C was always poppin' and the topics were the same. Karma was well in play but it wasn't to a point where if GS had made the changes then that he did this week, that it would have caused such an uproar. Karma makes the site fun and adds a new dimension to EF but, IMO, I think we need to ask ourselves why we came here to EF. I know that for myself, I came here for quality information on a contraversial subject and then happened upon C&C at a time in my life that was pretty rough. And BECAUSE OF THE FRIENDS I MADE HERE AND THEIR SUPPORT, I was able to pull out of one of the hardest times in my life. It wasn't because of the karma that I came here, and it isn't because of the karma that I stay. It is the people, support, and information that this site provides. IMO, people have lost sight of the real reason they are here on EF.

I am StickFigure, and I can't sleep.

I don't know how I'm doin man. I've had 35 minutes of sleep in the last 2 days and abour 7 in the last week and a half. Honestly there is no humor intended in the main body of my post there. Maybe just the very last line I wrote, but at this point, i'm not even sure. See my other thread about the nightmare, it might clear things up.

Hell no, I have an interview for a dd spot soon and a garden to finish tomorrow and an immature roommate to kick out tomorrow. So I am having a drink and planning my girlfriends herb/flower garden and trying to figure out a waterfall for her and the kids, and having a drink.

You know my sleep schedule is fucked being in the patch.

It is not relevant in any way, shape or form.

Not one person is here saying that C&C is ruined and not one person is relating karma to why they originally came here. Thus, your points, while valid in general, have relatively nothing to do with the subject at hand.

I don't know how you can say this considering half the threads since the changes have been about or have contained complaints about how much C&C sucks now or how boring it is or on and on.

this is a repost from the other thread but im so fuckin pissed about this whole thing its rediculous.


its not so much the karma itself i care about. its the fact that george is trying to suck every shitty penny out of everyone. i mean first we had karma introduced and it was ok, then he started "selling" karma and making it harder for us to give any just so we had to buy some if we wanted to have more. then they changed it again. it was fine the way it was but nooooooooooooo they have to find another way to break up the fun and start making us buy karma cause if we gave karma hits like we did before we would soon be very low if not out of karma and nobody wants that so it entices us to "buy" some more. its a scam all around

now lets get into the dumb ass "chairman of the board" crap. WTF is that shit? i went plat for life and thats all i need. now hes trying to push this chairmen bullshit on us with these GD emails i keep getting (aka SPAM) about trying to get me to buy a useless thing that gets me absolutely nothing in line at taco bell. its all about the tacos people.

and also

all im saying is i can see our "platinum" memberships becoming obsolete soon and forcing us to have to buy an upgraded membership in order to get the same options to use on this board. i.e. search option, plats can search and get 500 results, non plats cant. pretty soon there will be no non-plats as it will cost you to even look at the board. and the platinum memberships will be just like non-plat is once they get pushed away and the only way to get the same use out of the site is going to be upgrade to the chairman bullshit membership that costs an arm and a testcle to get. i mean come on those of you who paid $800 for 1 shitty year of nothing yall got taken for a ride. and the $800 was a discount. BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHA.

HFS that is all................... i hope

now do you see why im so pissed. its a little thing called forsight. i have been here for 6 years people i know what im talking about cause i seen the changes even before there was a "Plat" membership. its only gonna get worse and if you want to stay n this board you will most certainly have to pay even if you have a plat for life.

It isn't as if someone just raised the price on medical treatment for your child, or started selling bottled water to hurrican victims for $100 a bottle.

It's entertainment.

The right price is whatever people are willing to pay. If they don't then I am confident prices will go down.

What disturbs me about all these posts though is the inate sense of entitlement, as if people have some natural right to decide how much someone else can charge for a service they provide. If GS came to your job and said you were earning too much what would you tell him to do?

so you dont mind paying for something that was put to you that was for life but slowly change that agreement by changing the comodities that came with it? im all about getting what i pay for. if i buy a car and 2 years later ford decides to come out to my house and tell me they are taking the suspension back and in order for me to keep driving the car i will have to buy their upgraded one or else the car is worthless and non-useable. thats whats happening here. again its not about the karma its the sign i see of whats to come.

I can see the point of view for lifetime plats. You guys are an exception. That does strike me as somewhat dodgy, but I'd have to have read the original agreement to say for certain. You should review your original agreement. But even then the only part I would have an issue with would be with respect to your ability to hit others without tapping your own karma totals. I don't see it as giviing anyone a permanent veto with respect top any site changes.

this is how it happened when they came out with platinum memberships.


before it was just a boars, no plat/non-plat crap at all. then they came out with plat. then they came out with forums that only plats can go. so after a while if you werent plat then pretty much you were stuck on the outside and cant look in. now that they came up with this chairman crap im telling you, pretty soon there will be forums that only chariman can go and nobody else then all of a sudden if you want to keep doing the things you were use to you will have to eventually upgrade. believe me, i was non plat for a while when the plat memberships came out. i refused to go plat. but i found the site to be pretty darn boring so i did it. now i will not go chairman at all. i will leave the board before that shit happens.

Starting off free, then adding pay for features is the same model most every other internet site follows. The only ones who do not are those that can't. Revenue has to come from somewhere. People don't get into this business simply to make everyone elses life a little brighter.

In the end it will be an individual decision for all involved. But there is little point to being Don Quixote because however much they may bitch and gripe, 99% of the people aren't going anywhere.

You keep saying it has nothing to do withthe karma but that is what has everybody in an uproar and hatin. It doesn't cost a dime for karma, the karma is just imaginary status.
GS is not forcing anything on anyone. you are more than welcome to just be non plat, or keep the current plat you have, which is costing no ore than it did before the karma changes. Or you can be COTB. he is not telling you you have to do this or that and like Phenom said, this is 100% entertainent, 100% unnecessary for you to live your life. I guarantee you probably blow more in a weekend of partying than what you pay for your Plat Membership.

and that's kinda my point. I dont necessarily agree with charging peeps to give out their karma but it has become brutally obvious how out of control the karma thing has gone. GS's idea for the karma is to give it out for a post you think was thoughtful of had good advice. Apparently the juicer board still does it this way and alot of them have even made comments like, "there is no honor in karma giving on C&C! They give it out like candy for no reason." I'm not advocating one way or another, just trying to point out that peeps are too consumed by their karma. Do you actually think the information or advice here would be of any less qulity if no one hd any karma points??

That's not a bad idea. however that was never one i saw on the list of member suggestions that GS put out for everyones input. Most of these changes came from the members, if you didn't know.

is it true that plats don't see ads? If that's true it was a bad decision; because the people that pay are the ones the advertisers REALLY want to meet. better-chosen and less ads, but not none.
And the 20-hit rotation should be taken out; better to expire the rotation after say 2 days but I guess it was an effort to remove C&C clique-iness.

Devaluing what i paid for, (and, no I don't mean Karma) is the main reason I am cancelling my plat membership. COTB was the driving force, these new karma rules screwing up the bookie forum and other reasons only added to my chagrin about paying for the use of this site.

I still hit 15-20 times per day. My balance has remained unchanged. The low K holders are gonna gain, & the high K holders are gonna lose, in the long run.
 
you know everyone keeps saying "well george pisswanger has the option to charge what he wants when he wants". yes as this is very true does not change the fact that

THIS BOARD IS GOING TO CRAP REAL FAST. NOBODY WANTS TO KEEP PAYING MORE AND MORE FOR GARBAGE.

The only people sticking up for the new changes and soon to be changes are the ass kissing pissants they are.... should i name names cause i can.
