Here are some pics of my injury. The dr said just rest and ill be fine, in a few months, haha..

Basically, the weight wasnt an issue (yes it was a heavy load, enough to cause damage)... I cramped up from being dehydrated, then the muscle tore. The load wouldnt have mattered, i could have caught a cramp warming up with 135 and the same thing wouldve happened. Its just a freak accident... AND, i shouldve NOT been taking so much shit and over doing it.

The day after it happened

I still have some pain and swelling. Once i build up ROM, ill start rehabbing, ill still continue to lift other muscles, Im just going to monitor my water/electrolyte intake and be careful with what i put in my body.

For all who are starting out taking creatine or muscle enhancing products, listen to the labels. Taking more than suggested wont make you any bigger than taking the recommended amount, itll only cause damage.

glad to hear that your gonna be ok... still not backing off my original assessment though. take it easy and ramp over several weeks. i doubt very much 135 would have done this to you. i run dehydrated (stupidly) a lot. enough that my chiro has told me my muscles feel like beef jerky.

random max attempts are a sure fire way to fuck yourself, be more careful in the future.

Well, i was cramping up the past few months, mostly in my sleep... and a few times while i lifted. Honestly, this is a fluke. I didnt listen to my body. Dude, you can tear a muscle standing up from the shitter... When i was lifting that day, i felt great, 365 isnt shit, it just happened... I dont know what else to say. Im kinda freaked out to lift, but ill take a few months off, no big deal, im young, i aint going anywhere. haha

Wow, I didn't know it could just happen like that. Hope you heal quickly and completely.

you gave a scenario in which you had a long layoff from a movement, you went back to said movement attempted singles, and got hurt. from a purely training perspective this is not smart. im going to give you honest feedback as did highlander... anyways good luck

good news pal. why even single? 5 reps is the lowest ill go....just add weight smartly.....imo.

honestly, i do lift in that rep range 80% of the time. I hate the bench press, but, i periodically check my strength on it (every 3 months or so) to see how much im progressing, without even benching.

3 months ago i did 315, slightly difficult. In that 3 months span, no benching what so ever. I did progress to 365, which i would have pressed, and have pressed many times before.

either way, i learned a lesson.

Thanks dudes! keep pressing!

I hate bench as well my friend but when i started doing it more seriously i learned fast i had to start slow and light. Even if you are strong on other stuff like dead and squat it doesnt mean that will carry over to bench right out of the starting gates. Chalk it up as a learning experiance and don't do it again, which it seems like you have already done so good on you. I wish you a speedy recovery bro!
