I was working out with my buddy and he had 2 plates a side doin deads. I usually go heavy, but tried high reps today. My back locked up while I was jogging a while ago. I think I'm going to switch this up every week... carry on

That's a hell of a lot of reps. I'm guessing your max is over 500?

just 5 or 6 sets of ten. I do about 6 reps per set at heavy weight twice a week. I like the change.

crazy ivan, i think this guy needs to add some more plates to the bar, and I am not talking about christmas dinner plates

I just started to add deads to my routine. I usually go 2 plates and a 35 for 6-7 times for 3 sets.

Next time I'm piling on the 25's. I've done this before and the smaller diameter of weight really gets you down low..

i started a west side form of deads, where you take 85 - 90% of your max, (after two good warmup sets of course) do a rep, wait 30 - 45 sec. do another, and another until you hit 6 or 8. then drop down to 60% and do a straight set of 8. i was only repping 335 for 6 - 7 when i started. now i can pull 405 for 6. it works. deads you want to pull as much as possible, safely. i would say 5 sets of 12 with 225 is a wast of time personally. its a power movement. stay lower in your rep range hit high rep stuff later in your workout.

spatts, what do you think of a day devoted purely to speed
like

squat 10 x 3
bench 10 x 3
deadlift 10 x 3

this is obviously not westside,b ut do you think it can improve the lifts

That's how I do them. I pause about 20 secs then do another making sure my form is perfect.
