Yep. I didn't milk the cow, though. Someone brought us fresh milk. You can churn butter by skimming the cream, putting it in a mason jar with a few clean marbles, putting a lid on it, and shaking in back and forth. You have NO IDEA how much better fresh butter is than the stuff you buy in the store.

Anyway, it got me to reminiscing about my Appalachian Mtn. background. So many of the memories are so great. Being raised in the country really has some wonderful benefits. I remember catching tadpoles and crawdads barefoot in the creek, making quilts, hoe-ing the garden with my grandfather, snapping beans on the front porch, making quilt blocks with my grandmother, etc, etc.
I hope to bring my child to the mountains enough that he will be able to relate to our heritage.
