Hypo on R-ALA

I read a lot of people talk about the lack of the "Hypo" feeling/effect while using R-ala. I have used ALA MANY times in the
past and have felt it many times. This morning, I took 400mg
of R-ala post cardio with a whey shake and oatmeal. I am
STILL feeling hypo!!! This seems to be some potent stuff. This
week, I do plan on doing some blood glucose testing to see the
differences caffeine and R-ala make. I will report back for sure.

My girlfriend goes hypo fast on r-ALA... within 15 minutes it seems of taking caps. She won't take 300mg at one time anymore. Over 200mg makes her "headachy and dizzy" if she doesn't have food right away.

She used to take her caps and then order lunch. Now she won't take caps till her food arrives.

I don't get any hypo effects from r-ALA at any doseage.

I am STILL feeling crappy as I write this. I just took in a couple
of grams of simple sugar and feel a tad better. I also used quite
a bit of Yohimburn this morning so that might account for the
overall horrible feeling.

yohimburn, like other NE releasing drugs, may increase insulin secretion.. which may make going hypo more likely when used in combination with ala or R-ala. this may be more of an issue with Higher dosages.. though the combination should increase fat loss (particularly with r-ala as it will decrease plasma insulin.. which inhibits lipolysis)
 
The first time I took a big dosage all at once(half gram),I didn't take in enough carbs and nearly passed out,lol.Now,I always take in a good portion of carbs with it and am fine.
 
If I'm bulking right now, trying to gain mass, What can R-ALA do for me? I'm thinking it woudl be good to take post workout with my heavy carb shake?
 
That's correct. And it is also good to take a little with any other carb meal. Whether you're bulking or not. The reason you bulk is to build muscle not fat. If you use it while bulking it's going to partition the glucose into your muscle cells and keep the glucose from going to the fat cells. It will make your muscles grow better so of course you want it.
 
Too much?

How much r-ALA is too much? They're 100mg each.

For meals with 50-100 carb grams, I take 2.

For meals with 100 or more, I take 3.

Under 50, I don't worry.

In a given day, I take up to 10 throughout the day.
 
I experimented with various amounts over my last 2-day refeed, and found that small amounts frequently (100-200 mg every 2-3 hours) worked "better" than larger amounts less frequently (400 mg every 4-6 hours). On the day when I took the smaller amounts frequently, I got fewer symptoms of hypoglycemia, my strength was up, and I just felt better mentally.
 
Well, since I have been using a little more, I'm getting used to
the feeling. One thing I really like is the fact that I DO feel
mentally shaper. This was just the opposite while on regular
ALA so it's a bug thumbs up from me. I am on a very limited carb
diet so I'm carefull how I use R-ala. This morning, I had a protien
shake and 2 tbls natural peanut butter with a cup of java. I
took 400mg and I feel fine. There was maybe a total of 15 grams
of carbs, but I anticipate the coffee contributed to the insulin
spike.

you can.. it would be similar to taking a "heavy r" dose.. with younger users and in particular situations this may be preferable.. with the post workout meal being a possiblity.. where elevated insulin would be less detrimental.. in theory..
