HRT Question: steady or cycle?

NoBodyImportant

I am 48, was in great shape, good diet but had the usual andropause symptoms, before discovering HRT. (Thanks to forums like THIS, and no thanks to the medical community...) SO, I went through a clinc in FL, did all the usual tests evaluated the results, and they put me on 100mg Test-e plus 1.5 iu gh - growth hormone (Tev-tropin) - . VERY happy with the reults. Symtpoms gone. However...

They prescription instructions were for a 10-wk on, 4-wk off cycle on the test-e, with .5mg Arimidex starting in weeks 3 of the cycle, and clomid starting in week 2 or off cycle.

Problem - I am now in week 4 of my first off-cycle, and not liking it. Woods getting soft, libido down, all that.

My Question: From what I am reading, HRT should be a steady dose, am I not right? If that is the case, why would they want me to cycle??

Anyone doing the same thing? Thoughts, comments??

Thanks!

I am 62 and have been on hrt for three years, 200 ml test a week and 2 iu of growth.this has worked great for me . growth needs to be taken on reegular basis for economy and results 5 days a week. I like 2 on 1 off etc. test needs to cycle for it to be as consistent as you want and receptors need to clean out.4 weeks is not enough time for your normal test to produce, it can take months. You are just going to have periods where you are not going to have your normal wood, trust me I know. Old geezer.

I know this is an old thread but i felt like resurrecting it because i see allot of people on here talking about "cycling" their TRT.

First of all, true TRT is for someone such as myself who has been diagnosed with a medical condition such as secondary hypogonadism. There is no point in "taking a break", because in my case, I have been without normal test levels for god knows how long. I had a choice. Low test levels..., or normal test levels. I chose normal, so i went on TRT.

The key word here is "replacement". NOT "temporary replacement". Patients on other types of HRT, such as people with hypothyroidism, don't cycle their synthroid. Most just assume TRT should be cycled because the drug used to treat the condition just happens to be an anabolic steroid.

If you have aas induced hypogonadism, then treatment protocol can be different. For patients such as myself, however, TRT is a lifelong commitment. Purposefully causing my hormone levels to become a roller coaster ride with ups and downs is more harmful than making sure my levels are stable in the normal range year around. IMO and from what I have studdied on this, TRT should NOT be "cycled".

I could not agree more!!!

1oo mgs EW for several years now (doc prescribed) blood tests every 6 months.

41 YO

I could not be more pleased!!!

I don't get the concept of comming off HRT??

I am on a program that includes HRT (100 mg test p/w and hgh eod), low sugar diet, exercise and recovery. This is for life. HRT is not cycled.

Periodically I do cycles with larger dosage aas. This program runs 8-12 weeks and takes the place of HRT. I call this a cycle.

Hey Lion I do the same thing, lets call it trt turbo charged(LOL). Twice a year I do a little EQ to put on a little muscle Ive lost while on trt then finish it with Tren (my favorite). Then its back on trt until next time.I think this could be the wave of the future.
