How would you feel if your Dr. called you up after having a ultrasound for your gallbladder and said "hey you have to come in for a cat scan because your ultrasound shows some tumor growths on your liver....but hey don't worry they are most liklely nothing....and now I have to wait until next tuesday to have a cat scan.....UGHHHHHHHHHHH...would any one else feel a little freaked out...... :worried:

Well I guess the question is, how much do you value this Doctor's opinion? But yeah, I might be a little uneasy hearing that from my Doctor. I know that gall bladder issues can cause issues with the liver as well.

Sounds like terrible judgement on your GPs part to say such a thing over the phone. I would then be inclined to question his judgement accross the board. Start asking your friends, co-workers and family if they have experience with a doctor they really like: if not for a permanent change, at least its time to second opinion this guy. Good luck with all that.

shithouse bedside manner. he should have been more subtle.

fact is they can see some dark spots or something and want to check them out

fancy using the word tumour? dipshit

i've never heard of a doctor sounding so unprofessional.....

feal uneasy? possibly, but assuming the worst isn't gonna help and since this guy sounds like a weird bird I would just wait for some hard information before becoming too worried....good luck girl

Holy shit, Tripple! You post faster than Cipher... um... er... hmmmmmm.... I wonder....

:lmao:

Doctors are human making them fallible. They are not God.

Take it easy and go for second, third as many opinions as you need to feel comfortable with your situation.

I wish you well. :)

Well....depending on what the cat scan says I will get another view point. I don't like him all that well as a Dr. only because he is a little high and mighty sometimes....but most are. Thanks guys and I will let you know what is up....

Smurfy...you are right about the liver and gall bladder thing.

They are the exception sadly, not the rule.... but there are doctors who are completely void of the "high and mighty-ness" that we have all come to expect.

Find a doc that you click with.

Sometimes it can be tricky to diagnose difficulties. You don't need a doc that you do not have a good repoire with on top of that.

I know it seems like a pain, but you will thank yourself when you do. Find a doc that you feel comfortable with. Ask around the office or fam and friends. Someone is bound to know someone that will not treat you like something in a petri dish.

Thanks werd....Good advice....

You know you just start thinking of all the things you have to be grateful of and how much we take them for granted sometimes.....funny things run though your mind late at night while waiting to fall asleep....

You want a doctors that minds your feelings or your body?

Id damn well prefer a doc to tell me this kind of thing asap and as clear as possible

but to answer your question, well I guess I'd feel nervous. And I'd post about it on here, and feel better when asswits made smart remarks about it.

I WOULD THEN DRINK COFFE.

yes.... I know all to well. :)

Let me know how it pans out. Chances are it will be nothing (got my fingers crossed for you.)

Robert Jan - We are not lab experiments. If a doctor does not bother to take the time to treat his patient like a human being, chances are HE/SHE IS NOT LISTENING - so they will most likely miss something important when it comes to diagnosis.

To answer your question....

niether.

I want a good doctor who will treat me like I am a human being - not a paycheck and not something that was grown in a petri dish. Believe it or not, though not common - these doctors do exist.

You got a doctor on one hand a mental therapist at the other. I dont want em mixed up. I can understand not everybody feels this way.

Part of the reason I feel this way is that my father is a dentist who has this serious rational attitude to his trade, and he tells me many dentists sacrifice their results for their reputation. People dont like the dentist that hurts them. but often no pain is no gain, and soft healers make smelly wounds.

I went to college for the mental therapist part lol....But I agree I would like to over and done asap...

Burning....I will pm those hot pics to ya!! wink wink.....and of course I'm drinking coffee!!

I can respect that.

But in my experience it isn't pain that people fear, it is the unknown. If I am told, "This is REALLY going to hurt." Then I am very cool when it does. But if I had a dime for every time so shmuck blatantly lied and said I would feel "mild discomfort" then inflicted pain so severe that I would actually wake from anesthesia, I could retire yesterday. LOL

I don't believe that a doctor taking the time to treat a patient with a bit of basic human kindness would compromise his/her effectiveness as a scientist, as it were. When someone is ill and they are afraid because they don't understand what is happening to them the last they need is to be treated with zero kindness. This does not mean they want to be lied to. This only means they want to be treated with respect, as if THEY were important to that doctor.

some docs are real shitheads....

i had the coolest doc when I was a kid...he was south african. great guy. my whole family went to him.

then his son blew him and his wife away with a shotgun. :(

Holy shit bro.

He sounds like a dickhead like most doctors. I would feel very uneasy, especially since he is making you wait out a week to find out to see what is going on exactly with your liver.

I wish you the best of health and it turns out to be nothing.

Thank you Fistfull of steel.......

Jerkbox..if you ever need a physical exam you know where to find me......I would love to tell you to cough lol

Doctors can be boobs.

I've come to the conclusion that they don't even realize it - nor do hospital staff.

We see them in their element - God willing - 1-3 times a year.

They see someone like us a dozen times a day 260 or more days a year - I'm sure the customer service side of themselves is long since dead.

Anywho

Good luck with those test results.
:)

And then you have the people that bitch about having to wait until they go back
to their PC doctor after getting some test to get results in person.
Vs them just telling you as soon as they know the results so you can start looking for a specialist.. Usually the results of a test are done in 1-2 days at the most and the rest of the waiting is the the paperwork and you getting back in to see your PC doctor.

I still think you need to have a sit down face to face with the doctor for questions or whatever. But I also think that if they see anything other than normal you should know ASAP, as well as being told all is OK as soon as possible..

They just can't win..

OMG That is so true.

At least if they call you about sometyhing - anything - you know you exist and your file isn't wedged wrong under HA instead of EL.

I once waited almost 2 months for results of a biopsy of a stomach growth 2 years ago so I know how you feel.

Why do they make you wait...that is the killer....just tell me what I am dealing with and I can handle that....I hate the waiting

Without seeing you completely naked, I'm not going to be able to tell if the tumors are to worry about or not.
