so my retarted sister has been driving me nuts to re-do her computer, it had a ton of spyware/adware and was running slow as all hell. So I reinstall windows xp professional on her comp and she says "what about kazaa, can you put that back for me" . I say "yea, wait till later", she decides to download what she thought was Kazaa but it was "kazaa accelerator" a spyware from hell program, i just scanned her comp and in one download she managed to 1043 recognized spyware objects, yes 1043 in one freakin download, i wanted to throw her computer out the window, thank god i got my own and keep it locked so she cant destroy mine.
 
Yeah I've had a fucking Trojan for the last few weeks. can't fucking get rid of it.

Look in your msconfig to see if it's in the startup tray. If you're not sure where msconfig is, just go to the run box and type it in. Then go to the startup tab and look for the virus name or a variation of it

Uh hammy? AVG is anti-virus software. It doesn't protect against spyware. You need to use AVG in conjunction with Ad-Aware SE and Spy-Bot to truly protect your computer.

all i know is i ran adawre and spybot on one puter and between them both it found maybe 30, as soon as i would run the internet again the spyware came right back up, and if i ran another scan ad ware and spybot would come up with the same exact spywares again, the first time i ran avg it found over 800, this was a new puter, are you telling me i had 800 viruses on my puter? after that i never had anymore spyware problems at all, when i would run those 2 apps again they came up clean

Okay, I think maybe we are talking about different things here. I have run AVG 6.0 Anti-Virus System = what is says under help>program information.

The most I've ever found was 2 or 3, viruses. It never scans for spy-ware. I have AVG setup so that it runs every night. I still get the occasional spyware from ad-aware and spy-bot.

No I'm not saying you had 800 viruses on a new computer, that seems impossible. When you ran avg anti-virus and it's done, if you have a something on your computer it says VIRUS DETECTED and you can fix it and move it the VIRUS vault.

I have never, ever had AVG tell me I had spy-ware, even when I know I did.
 
AVG is capable of finding some of the more wide-spread spyware, but not nearly as much as Spybot or AdAware. Of course, AdAware and Spybot can't protect you against viruses. Really, all three should be used regularly.

Oh really? Okay. I've probably never found spyware w/ AVG because I also use spy-bot and ad-aware on a regular basis so they pick everything up.

all i remember is some of the things it came up with had spyware in the name, since then i havent had any problems with the computer, i just assumed it was getting rid of spyware and viruses since i couldnt imagine a newer computer having 800 viruses on it, it didnt really run slow, it was just getting a lot of pop ups and after i ran the avg i havent had anymore problems

Gawwd , I somehow managed to get the isearch toolbar on ma machine ---- this thing sucks major elephant cock - MSN program quarentined it but couldnt get rid of it , then i downloaded some shit called "kill" from isearch themselves which promised to get rid of it...it did all right ...fucking machine refused to boot....

So I went into safe mode , copied about 60Gb to one of my other two HDs and reformatted the main drive....reloading XP home ( I was using Win 2k Pro) ...fuckin thing doesnt recognise dynamic disks....fuck.... reinstalled Win 2k Pro...now fucker wont recognise my 160GB HD..... am now in the process of backing up the little HD (40GB) so I can reformat main drive and reinstall XP.... nice way to waste 10 hours.... I'd seriously like 1 hour alone with the isearch MD
 
i just did a spyware scan on my laptop and found 15 spyware/adware programs
not sure if they have all been erased :worried:

I scan my shiznet once in a bit. I never got no spyware.

No Trojans, no virus. I roll through the Internet like Night Rider mang.
Disable java applets, scipts, acitive x, auto installs, all that.
 
do a search for panda anti virus, go to their website and look for the free PC scan, that gets rid of tons of shit.
 
people i was not asking for tips on how to remove/find spyware, i was just stating how downloading 1 stupid program can really F'up your comp.

I have that Isearch shit, too. I've been trying to fix it FOREVER. Hopefully I'll find a solution soon. I've been using Hijack this but it hasen't been getting rid of the this I select....wtf
 
the worst is this variation of the "about blank" browser hijack, i had to download about 10 programs before one finally got rid of it, ad-aware/spy bot didnt do jack.
