16 is the age of consent in most states. do not be fooled by the 18 and up crap you hear all of the time. Even in states where it is 18 and up, there is usually a clause describing viable defenses (the DIFFERENCE in age, whether or not you are married, whether or not you had reason to believe she was legal, etc.)

to answer your question, when i was 24 i met a 16 year old. we were off and on for two years. She turned out to be the wrong girl, but it was not because of her age.

Now that i am 26, i still feel the same way. That is: age is a number correlated with maturity. It is NOT the only factor, however. I would go as low as legally allowed if the girl was worth it. Most aren't.

between 16 and 20 is where girls grow up. there are 16 year olds more mature than many 20 year olds. It just depends on the person.
