How often do you vary exercises?

I tend to switch an exercise once I get stuck strength-wise, though I train for mass.

From a mass standpoint how long do you think one should keep an exercise in the routine and then switch it up to prevent the body from adapting?

That's a good way to end up in a plateau... I would vary everything (excersizes , reps , weight , rest , order) to keep the gains coming.

Ironically, it would do the exact opposite. It would hamper his gains.

my weights are very meticulously planned to promote progression and prevent plateaus.

I've hit the point in my routine now where every single exercise I do is the best for that muscle group, I mean the most fluid-feeling for me personally. This is the result of 2 years of troubleshooting and trying different exercises

AAh , I'm sure you can find info both ways on this one. Basically he said he was training for mass. So mass is independant of the type of movement that you do. But since muscles have memory , I think it's good to switch every now and them.

If you are basing "gains" on bench press strength , then yes , you have to keep benching to find out what your "gains" are

Everyone is different but I used to think that changing all the time is the best however maybe some time is needed to get as much as you can out of that exersize and then move onto another before you platue. for me it is different on every body part. some body parts like 2-3 weeks, some 3-6....

im not going to get in an argument here..i think what you stated is prolly the best way..if your rep range is 8-10 and your doing whatever exercise and cant seem to increase the weight then i think its time to change that exercise..
this seems to work for me as well

i keep the same basic compound exercises, just vary the weight/frequency/intensity/tempo/volume. i just have added front raises, just because i never really did them before, this is my 2nd week with them in my routine, i like them.
