How often do you take a layoff from the gym?

last time i was off was for 6 days last MAY 00... most days off since then would be 2 days.....try to something physical everyday, if i cant do thew weights..

Unfortunatly I never have to plan one, I always end up having a minor injury or get sick every few months and get a week or two off that way.

I go 5 days on 2 days off then the next week 6 days on 1 day off. I feel like im cheating myself if i dont do that.

never i feel good when i go, i feel like shit when i don't - im addicted...just like hittin crack.

One week every 8-12 weeks. This is the week and I'm going crazy not being able to train. It always seems to come up when I'm reaching new levels. But I noticed all the little pains in the past few days off. They seem to be healing pretty well...only 4 days left!!!!

Well I cant believe some of you guys train year round with no time off, thats insane dedication!!! I am a powerlifter so I am forced to take time off. I usually hit one workout the week of a meet and take the rest of the days off up until the meet, so thats five days off. Then I take the week after a meet off. So that almost two straight weeks off every 3 to 5 months

90% of you guys over train. i train each body part one every 8 days... chest, back....shoulders, tri's, bi's....legs....i workout 3 days in an 8 day cycle. and each workout last no more than 30-45 mins. i find that this was the only way i could make gains all natural, and now that i take some gear it works even better. i'll also admit genetics play a huge role in recovery and growth. i respond best to this type of training.

I used to take a week off every 12 weeks. After evaluating my training logs, I am looking at 1 week off for every 6-8 weeks on. I always dread taking the week off, but after I do, all my joints feel better, I have WAY more energy, and am strong as a MOFO. I usually try and do some sort of exercise during the week off though for "active recovery". This could be soccer, snowaboarding, cardio, whatever.
