For a person who is new to the gym, how much muscle could he reasonably put on in 6 months given he eats a ton and lifts heavy?

Any estimations?

i got into an argument with this guy at the bar last weekend. he said a guy could not put on 15 pounds of muscle over 6 months unless he was using heavy steroids.

i said with heavy training and proper eating, it was possible without having to use "aids."
 
its very possible to gain over 60 lbs without gear. I went from 155 t0 220 in 3 years, just takes TIME and DEDICATION.
 
Ive gained 75 to 85lbs since I started 9 years ago. No juice. Just eating alot and training very hard. Workouts that would rip most people apart, into a quivering mound of flesh and bile, drowning in thier own vomit. Thats the kind of intensity I like to maintain.
 
I've gained 60lb in 8months of training hardcore. some of it fat but about 75% muscle. If you eat right and train right you'll gain just as much as those who take roids and don't eat right. its all about dedication if you do it every single day than it will work. i can honestly say that i have taken about 4 weeks off total in that 8 months time. Its all about a schedule build a day by day schedule and your set.
