How much sleep?

I know everyone says 8 hours is how much sleep you need so that you can recover and not overtrain, but is there a difference who is semi active all through the day? As opposed to someone sitting at a desk all day..... And do more workouts = more sleep?

I tend to listen to my body if I am tired I get a little bit more sleep.

i try to get 8 hours a day, i have a computer type job so needless to say I dont "work' hard :chomp: :chomp:

I find that i need to rest after heavy "big" days IE Legs and Back

I worry about this too. I sometimes take my work home on evenings, and with training and eating I know I don't get 8 hours most nights.

I usually take a couple of extra hours on the weekends, but I don't like to sleep too much because I get paranoid that i'm not eating!!

I'm pretty sure everyone is different and it should be abundantly clear to you which category you fall under. Only YOU know how much sleep it takes for YOU to feel rested.

idealy you want to get 8-10 hours.....however this is unrealistic for most, i get like 7 a night and have no problem building muscle..

yeah 8's a good rule of thumb however 7 is sufficient for me as well...six i feel like i'm dragging ass the next day.

I also think one's body adjusts to getting a certain amount of sleep. Not to say the new amount is optimal, but if you're only getting 6 hours/night for a year straight (for example) I doubt you'd still be tired.
