I am loading up on my protein for breakfast and post workout between 90 to 100g each time. I am getting the rest througout my other meals. Is this ok or am I pissing in the wind.
I have read that the body can only use 50-55g of protien per meal, or 1-1.5 hrs. anabolic review i believe is the site i read this on. That is way too much protien. Balance your meals.
I think 30g-60g per is good depending on your stats. Anyone claiming that anymore than x amount of protein is absorbed per sitting is BS'ing you. I don't know of a single study adressing the issue and this has been such a big area of contention among bodybuilding "experts" if such a study existed somebody would ahve found it. It also fails to account for bioindividuality and a host of other factors. There is no way a 90 year old woman, a sixteen year old boy and a 300lb pro bodybuilder have the same threshold assimilation for protein.
I am 6'2 260 lbs. I am trying to get around 450g of protein a day which I think is about right. I think post workout 90g is not a problem, I am unsure about breakfast. I would think you would want to flood the body with it after going so long without it.
Ok, so I have a question. I'm about 270 pounds. 14.5% body fat last time I checked (2-3 weeks ago) I'm eating 100% clean for about 10 days now. I eat 6 meals a day now. IF I bumped it up to 8 I would have to be eating about 50g of protein per day (if I was on the high end of 1.5g per pound of weight) That is not only expensive and a lot of food but a ton of protein. My main goal right now is to lean out and get rid of fat. putting on muscle would be great but I would be happy just keeping what I have.
Should I tweak this "rule" for the correct amount of protein?
You weigh more because you have more muscle, therefore, your body needs more protein.
Simple really, if your at 270lbs. You should be having 300g as a minimum imo,

yeah, I should be totally fine with 350 grams per day. but, if I'm eating 6 meals a day that is pretty much 60g per day and as I understand it my body can't absorb that much per meal....I might have to bump up to 7-8 meals a day. but it still seems like a lot....
Your body can absorb that much per meal, what makes your think it can't?
Btw, studies which say only 30g protein every 2 hours as a max are based on the average man who doesn't lift weights.
Your carrying much more muscle than that kind of person, so you need more.
