and why? I think we've lost our identity. We're pretty much to the point where we ridicule anything that isn't considered "badass", whether it be music, movies, other countries, etc. It never used to be this way. Hell, would people a century ago even know what "badass" meant? If they did they probably didn't have to. By and large the generation that fought WWII was probably the last decent one, as far as intangible qualities (respect, discipline, honor, self security, etc.) go. Very few people today retain any of those. This seems to be what the culture of fear creates. But we can also blame the direction politics and social norms have gone to help get us to this point. Sometimes you have to stop and think how pathetic it is. It'd be nice to see some changes for the better sooner or later.
