How much does music influence your moods?

Music influences me very much. I can hear a certain song and feel like I can conquer the world, then on the other hand I can hear a song that brings back a sad memorie then be sad. I'll listen to music and adjust accordingly to my mood at that time. I love music. I will be 50 and still be driving around with my stereo jamming full blast.

Yeah, I'm the same way... When I write, I like to have something good in the background. Or if I lift by myself...

It works both ways for me. It can influence my mood, or my mood can dictate what music I choose to listen to.

Music is everything for me.

For example,

Need to kill? - Bad Medicine - Bon Jovi

Need to cry? - Anything by Sammy Hagar

Reflecting? Against the wind - Bob Seger

Angry? The Girl from Ipanema - any version

Where's the Kenny Rogers song "lady"?

What sort of mood is it for?

if there is a song on quietly - even if I like the song - it puts me into a fucking bad mood.
if there is a song on loudly, so that I can feel it - then I feel good.

don't know why it is, but I do know that is why I'm investing in hearing aid companies and the research - we're all gonna be deaf.

what'd you say?

What happens if a song you don't like is playing loudly?

it can fire me up or make me think

seriously - I'm not joking -and I know it is weird- as long as it is loud - I will like it.
(yeah, I *could*have put more hyphens in that "sentence" but I didn't)

and SatanicGoatslayer is funny as hell.

Thank you, and a question; a scenario of sorts.

You are in your car (which has a big system) and you pump up the volume, put a CD in, and Manic Monday by the Bangles comes on.

Do you still like it?

im just like you music brings me way up or slams me way down,i dont mind either but its weird how a song does that

okay - to answer your question: I'm in my car, kicking system going, so loud the windows in the back crack a little, and it is hard to make turns b/c the mirrors are shaking (not to mention the hydraulics are making the front end hop and only one or two wheels are on the ground at any one time). I'm throwing out gang signs like you woldn't believe and whistling at the hotties, next thing I know, my 22" rims are getting all up in this curb and then...
wait - what are we talking about?

You bump some random shit, man.

Well, I can't find what I was really looking to bump...

Somewhere in the bowels of Elite, SG made a Bon Jovi reference (I think Bad Medicine) where he paraphrased the lyrics, and now I can't find it.

The odd part is, there are more Bon Jovi references in his posts than one might expect.

Ooooohh, she's a little runaway.

"Sometimes a song can touch a nerve that takes me back to you ...."

Okay, so I'm using song lyrics to answer this one. They seemed to fit the thread. Music can definitely influence my mood. I can hear a song that can reduce me to tears in seconds, just because I associate songs with situations and people. When I do that, if it is a bad association or a painful one, I'm screwed from there on.

Music definitely influences my mood. My mood also influences what music I listen to. I get really drawn into music and a lot of times I associate it with past events, memories, feelings, etc.

yeah lucidblue said it.

i avoid listening to some music i really used to like because it's associated with some time of my life that i don't wish to relive. but others bring back memories of good tiems and i yearn to relive it with the music

Music can get me excited, but it cant mellow me out.
I hate mellow music. Listening to it just makes me mad, then I turn it off.
I never listen to mellow music.

Music produces only 2 emotions within me.. excitment or anger. Anger cuz I hate it, or excitment cuz I like it.
