??? like on a 5'11 guy... 1% bodyfat would be how many pounds?? is there anyway to predict?

CoolColJ said:Does anyone think like me that bodyfat% is stupid?
What I mean is if a guy is 200Lbs and has a 5% bodyfat, and another guy is 300LBs and has a 5% Bodyfat.
The second guy is actually quite fat compared to the first person!
10LBs of fat on him verses 15LBs on the 2nd guy.
I'd rather have a measurement that says, the exact LBs of bodyfat you have rather than a percentage. Becuase as you gain muscle your bodyfat % actually drops even if you don't lose any fat!!!
CoolColJ said:Size of the muscle doesn't have anything to do with being shredded, since most of the fat is under the skin
But I suppose in this case, if the 300 lb guy is taller then the fat will be spread out over a larger area so he should be leaner
But if he's not, then he is fatter![]()
Haha, that's so true. When you say it that way, it does sound absurd. "Which weighs more, 1 kg of feathers or 1 kg of bricks?"bm2k said:Often you hear people say "muscle weighs more than fat" in order to rationalise putting on weight.

but a bowlful of muscle would weigh more than a bowlful of fat...
arjuna said:So, how much volume does one pound of fat take up and how much volume does one pound of muscle take up?
Would a one pound box of butter take up the same volume as one pound of body fat? Is that an acceptable comparison? And would one pound of muscle use as much volume as say, one pound of lean meat?

I think the debate was over the incorrect logic of people saying that "muscle weighs more" when in fact they mean to say "muscle is more dense than fat". So, a pound of muscle would take up less space than a pound of fat.

What the hell are you on about? Seriously...
How much wood would a woodchuck chuck if a woodchuck could chuck wood?

are you stupid??
muscle4u said:A pound of muscle and a pound of fat BOTH weigh a FREAAKIN' POUND.......you idiots!
NOw, a pound of fat will be about three, yes 3 times the size of the pound of muscle..........so your bowl would LOOK as if it had more fat in it. That's why 2 people that weigh the same can be very different looking if one is 30% body fat and the other 10%.
Hope that helped.
