John C Calhoun said:Don't bother spinning them becuase they are already thin enough as it is. Brake jobs are a notorius ripoff at most garages. If you go in for one of their advertised $79 brake jobs, they will almost always try to sell you new rotors along with the pads, even if it is not neccessary. Best to buy the parts yourself and change rotors along with pads when necessary.

If the rotors have any wear or grooves, they need to be turned on a lathe or replaced, period. Brakes are a safety feature, you don't compromise their service to save a few bucks. If the pads are worn down to the backing plates ("metal on metal") then turning or replacing the rotors is a certainty.
If you're dealing with a reputable shop, they'll measure the thickness of the rotors to see if there's enough material left for them to be turned while still meeting the minimum thickness spec listed for the particular model of car. Otherwise a replacement will be necessary.
The price for rotors can vary wildly, depending on the car. When I was a mechanic back in the 1980s, Fiat and Volvo rotors were $9.00 - $15.00, and BMW ones were $50 - $75 each. Our shop didn't do Mercedes Benz, but I'd guess them to be on the high side.

I did it not knowing anything for my wife's ford - I did a little research, and put in Brembo rotors and Hawk ceramic pads, all for $140. You get to chose the best parts and learn how to do something in the process.
