How much difference does "salt" really make?

just wondering cause I thought about it and I sprinkle the stuff on just about everything I eat, if I were to cut out the added salt do you think it would make a big difference? I'll let you know. Also are other spices okay, like pepper onion and garlic?

It would make a huge difference - not only with blood pressure, etc., but also for water retention (if your trying to lean down). If you normally add a lot of salt to your food, trying cutting it out for a few weeks. You'll throw your salt shaker in the garbage!!

okay, but what about garlic, onion, pepper, are these still okay for leaning down?

Actually, salt can be implemented for at least 10-12 weeks of the diet (sodium) w/o major problems like BP. The only thing that might come about is the water retention. I would say keep it to a minimum, but unless you're doing a show, you can still have some salt. (not meaning 80x a day).

Garlic, onions, pepper are probably my best friends when I diet: them and green veggies. The answer is: THEY ARE GREAT FOR DIETING AND OTHER INSTANCES.

alright check this out, for pre-contest i add salt to everything, unitll around week 10 of dieting. adding salt to everything actually raises aldrostone levels; thus forth , promoting less water retention.

BTW don't use Lo Salt (potassium + sodium) : it tastes horrible :(

I noticed Lou F. adding salt to his meals in Pumping Iron, I always thought it was bad, so I've stayed away from excess salting of foods.

On a side note, you can always sodium load and deplete for a contest.
