How much Cipro should I get?

JuicyGirl

New member
I'm going to get some Cipro to keep on hand for myself and my family members. Does anyone know what the dose would be to prevent Anthrax from proliferating?

Thanks in advance.

Please refrain from taking most of the propaganda that has been all over the news seriously. About 10-20 people die each year from anthrax......it IS a virus, and a fairly common one at that. If you WERE hit with a chemically engineered strain, you would be dead before you even knew you had it. Save your money, and don't subscribe to the panic that has riddled our nation. Why don't you take that money and donate it to somethin worthwhile??? EG. Red cross.

My 2 cents

Oh my....

The first thing you should do is stop taking medical advice from Armchair MDs.

Go to your doctor and ask about it.

My wife did already. And here was his reply:

"It's not a good idea to simply give out antibiotics for no reason. If an emergency DID occur, it would be in the community's best interest to have as much available as possible."

Also, it takes roughly 50-80 thousand spores in your lungs to contract pulminary anthrax. Anthrax dies quickly in water and sunlight. It dies when exposed to heat or cold.

The Taliban live in CAVES, they do not have the means to produce anthrax that is resistant to sunlight, heat/cold or water. And if they had the means, Pakistan would have been wiped out in 1996.

If you are seriously interested in preparing for emergency situations, I would suggest you contact your local National Guard armory and ask for info. Another good source would be a member of the LDS church. LDS members tend to be very prepared.

So, you're saying that over the internet, you can prescribe dosages of antibiotics for someone whose medical history is unknown to you?

Not saying that you're right or wrong. Just trying to state the obvious, quoting websites for 'typical dosages' is a relative blanket statement and shouldn't be taken as sound medical advice.

no, but these are FDA approved doses.

besides, she's not going to get anthrax. it is just another scare, no different than 'the world will end in 2000' scare. it will pass in a year.

Well, I bought some anyhow. Just a small supply to keep on hand just in case. It was cheap and I don't spend money on myself much so I figured "why not?"

I only have 7 days worth to get me started as it looks like it must be taken within a few hours to be safe.

Oh, and trust me, I would rather overdose on antibiotics than go into a panic attack trying to get to the doctor!

Are you going to start digging your bomb shelter as well???

And if you are going to build a bomb shelter - I consult a construction business that builds commercial spec tornado shelters - with the right funding I can easily have one converted to a nuke shelter for you. Just want you to be prepared, Juicy
