I only recently started using chalk for deads since my grip was slipping with the heavier weight. It solved the problem completely I feel that my grip is ready for twice the weight right now when using chalk. I also started using chalk on bench day for the 5x5 portion I feel much more comfortable with the bar when the grip is perfect.
I used to always make fun of the chalkers in the gym but now that I am one I realize what I had been missing. I do however realize that I'm now being made fun of but I just hate a slippery grip and I hate wearing gloves.
