What type of concerns?

Keep in mind, I'm speaking of multi-gram dosages.
Well, my first concern is a practical and basic concern. Namely, using ALA in this fashion is to create and maintain ketosis. When dietary ketosis is induced, there is a (typical) 4-week window in which the subject will get impressive results, after that, the body will adjust to its new state and the burning of fat will progressively slow. (of course, I'm speaking in broad terms here) One needs to cycle carbs up and down, in and out of ketosis, to receive maximum impact from a ketogenic-type diet. In this case, by removing the ALA from the picture after using it for the four weeks, you get the same effect as reintroducing carbs. This in and of itself, is probably reason enough to cycle it.
Additionally, there aren't any studies that I've read that have studies the use of any type of ALA (r-type or racemic) for inducing ketosis; and there doesn't appear to be much information about how long-term, continuous use in multigram ranges effects the body.
And as a more specific subset of the point I outlined above, there are some valid negatives to s-type ALA; I simply don't know what long-term ingestion of massive amounts of s-type (relative to the doses commonly studied) would have on the system.
Also, I know it has a short half-life, but perhaps one of us should look into whether ALA has any systemic build-up over time -- especially at high doses... This could be a problem if stored ALA interacts with newly ingested ALA in a way that causes increased levels in the system over what is expected...
When in doubt, I prefer to error on the side of caution by letting the body return to homeostasis for at least an equal amount of time that it is being manipulated.
