How many sets do you do per workout while on?

I'm cutting so I might be different than others who are bulking...but I do 5 sets.. I start at 10 reps and each week add 1 rep til I build up to 15 and stay there til I'm done with the cycle.

Sundevil, I would increase volume (to a reasonable level) whether on or off. I just started maxing squats 4x per week & have gotten stronger. The body will adapt. Btw, I'm 41, sleep poorly & have always had issues w/ recovery.

Working DC, so I add weight and reps if possible, works beyond anything else I've tried..
Give it a try and see if it is something for you, might be, might not be :)

I don't see why anyting should change.

Im a firm believer in switching up your routine every week to constantly keep your muscles guessing. Dont get me wrong, i do go in a hit it hard for 3 weeks, but thats a max. I do a muscle a day and try for 25 sets for each muscle. Whether that is pumps or trying to get mass. I will have an occasional workout with a bit more for the pumps with about 45-1:00 of rest in between. And when lifting heavier, 2:00 to 3:00 minutes in between each. But very your routine will constantly keep the muscles guessing and in shock! This will help you see gains better and help you get more pump.

Getting your muscles into a routine will give you plateus and workouts that wont benefit that much.

Something else i do is even change the series in which i workout. If your hitting chest and do Flat barbell bench first everytime your in there start off by doing flyes and then pre exhaust so chest will feel more when you bench. U may have to drop some weight, but proper form and full reps is slowly, felxing the muscle at the peak is more important then being that sweet dude that can bounce 500 lbs of his chest 3 times... I can teach my 80 year old grandma to bounce 500 lbs of her chest. but i live by the motto do it light, do it right.... Works out well for me. I see gains even when lifting for pumps and i do sets with up to 50 reps sometimes for pump... Granted im cutting for the lakeland classic in florida in 10 weeks. Try varrying and youll see results.

Last, when u lift to bulk, lift for 8-12 reps with a good amount of weight. Youll see the best results there. 12-25 for light with a 50 burn out, sometimes throw a 100 reps on there and feel it. If you have any questions.. feel free to Pm...
