I have been working outside for the last 5.5 years, night, day, rain, snow.
Invest in some good gear. If you work outside and you are cold, you just aren't working hard enough.

heaters are great but this is part of the problem: We get stuck outside on calls for car wrecks or whatever and by the time we get back to the ambulance...where the heater is located.. we are cold and soaking wet from the snow and rain. When we finally start to dry off and warm up, we get another call. So we spend hours soaking wet and cold. I think that's why all of the warm gear does not work well. When it gets wet, the cold goes right through it. When it's really cold, our clothes get crunchy from the ice.
