How Many Of You's Were Considered Geeks In Highschool?

VicTusDeuS

New member
Just wondering if anyone here wasnt part of the "in" crowd and changed that their out of highschool. I figured i'd start this topic since nobody has ever asked before...

i hung around the art crowd and i also was into sports. they didn't know what to make of me...

i also thought i was ugly all through high school because i couldn't get a date. i hated high school.

Oh yeah, total geek here. :)

I was probably the lowest form of life at my high school. No friends, fat, zits, played Dungons & Dragons, watched Star Trek, not into sports, etc. I absolutly hated my exsistance between the ages of 13-18. I never got beat up, but I got harassed a lot and made fun of by the so called "cool" people. Looking back on it now, I realize I was fairly anti-social. I think that if I'd made more of an effort, not to fit in per se, but more to connect with the people around me I would have enjoyed high school a lot more.

Today I'm a totally differnt person...although I still like Star Trek, and fuck you if you make fun of me. :) Hell, I don't even look the same as I did 6 years ago (40 lbs heavier with about 1/3 the bf%). I think what's really changed the most is that I don't care what other people think of me anymore. Once I stopped listening to all the shit people threw my way, I started living my life a lot better. Getting in shape has also helped a lot, it's always a kick to run into people from high school and have them do a double-take when they recognize me. :)

T.

I was a nobody, but I was known by everybody, so I don't know what that is. Not a dork, not popular, no clue

If I had a lotus i'd have a hot girl too. It just pisses me off how people can be stigmatized(sp) as being a geek or what not and have to be treated unfairly even if they are the nicest person in the world. Im just puzzled by the way some people are kinda pre destined to be popular while others have to face all the shit.

geek (gk)
n. Slang

A person regarded as foolish, inept, or clumsy.
A person who is single-minded or accomplished in scientific or technical pursuits but is felt to be socially inept.
A carnival performer whose show consists of bizarre acts, such as biting the head off a live chicken.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
[Perhaps alteration of dialectal geck, fool, from Low German gek, from Middle Low German.]
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
geeky adj.
Our Living Language Our word geek is now chiefly associated with student and computer slang; one probably thinks first of a computer geek. In origin, however, it is one of the words American English borrowed from the vocabulary of the circus, which was a much more significant source of entertainment in the United States in the 19th and early 20th century than it is now. Large numbers of traveling circuses left a cultural legacy in various and sometimes unexpected ways. For example, Superman and other comic book superheroes owe much of their look to circus acrobats, who were similarly costumed in capes and tights. The circus sideshow is the source of the word geek, “a performer who engaged in bizarre acts, such as biting the head off a live chicken.” We also owe the word ballyhoo to the circus; its ultimate origin is unknown, but in the late 1800s it referred to a flamboyant free musical performance conducted outside a circus with the goal of luring customers to buy tickets to the inside shows. Other words and expressions with circus origins include bandwagon (coined by P.T. Barnum in 1855) and Siamese twin.

------(END OF DEFINITION)

I like this definition, funny.

Ok, so we've defined geek here. Only others can regard another individual as a geek. So if you let others convince you in your own mind that you are of that definition, then you deserve to hold the title of the defined geek.

IE, a few of my hardcore lifting buddies that are too dumb to even find the screen on a computer, have referred to me as a 'geek' in a ribbing manner for using the computer. The definition above fits that point of time in insult, as if I was called a 'boner' or 'dickhead.' But I do not believe I would be a geek unless in my own mind I believe I fit the defintion of a geek.

So no, I have never fit the defintion of a geek in HS or any other point of time. And neither should you now that I've probably saved you from inevitable geekdomship. You're welcome or fukk you.

Spoiled the shit of shitty shitter shittiness.

When I was real young I was a comlete geek. Big NHS glasses that were taped together, goofy teeth, skinny and always in 2nd hand clothes. I would go to church every Sunday and basically had nothing as I grew up - no holidays, no TV, no phone, no car. I would get taunted a lot. As I got older I rebelled to how my parents had moulded me and became the original skinny (8 stone), zit faced white kid that was into hip hop when nobody else was. Right back from '79 through the 80's I was trying to breakdance and bodypop. In the UK the hip off scene took a lot longer to get going so I was a geek. Now that bodybuilding and my martial arts have changed me from being a geek, everyone nowadays pretends to have been into the old school hip hop, now it is cool. I also was like a Jeckyl and Hyde as I'd do well in school then after I'd be out getting in all sorts of trouble; fighting and stealing. I'd get stick from my friends as I was in the highest sets in school and was called a swat. I had no self confidence and could not get a girlfriend. Oh how glad I am that I went in a gym and got hooked.

I think I was a geek, it is all a blur. Lots of smoken, drinken, smoken and other party favours. But I had an odd circle of friends. But I'm fa fa fa faine fine now, really.:D

I had a great time in highschool, even got prom king :) Most of my friends were girls, but I had guy friends as well. University now and things are different, not that I'm a loser just doing too much work to mingle. I'm taking summer classes now.

Shit I was 5'9" and 130lbs what do you think?? I wouldn't say I was a geek, just a loner who hung with other outcasts. Funny I run into snobby classmates who are bald and fat now I just give them the brush off and tell them pound sand. Looking good is the best revenge.

I'm not sure what crowd I was in - I was one of those people that was in all the crowds equally I guess. I had straight A's the whole time (until the last part of my senior year), I was an art person and went to some state competitions from that (had my stuff stolen - that's how good I was! :) ), and my senior year got selected as king of the senior ball (like a prom - but at our school the prom was only for juniors) - I don't count that though b/c there were certain circumstances that I think it was a pity vote. the queen looked just like elisabeth shue though. very hot. I also was one of the best runners in the state at the time. I hung out with the stoners and played guitar but didn't smoke. I hung out with the jocks but didn't drink. I hung out with the gungeons and dragons people but I was never really any good at it.
damn, if only I had discovered programming shit back then. my dad sort of tried to get me into it, but I was too caught up in trying to get laid all the time.

so yeah, not sure what crowd I was in, but I'm pretty sure I was and still am a geek.

Didnt hang out with the cool kids, but had everyone 's respect in school cuz i got into alot of fights and didnt take shit from anyone:karate:

I was a geek in Junior High.... I got laid in the summer between 7th and 8th grade, and that gave me a lot of confidence! After that, I got into the weight room and started gaining muscle and losing my big fat gut......... I still couldn't get with the popular girls in 8th grade..... but kept working at it :D

By the time I was a sophmore in H.S. I was starting both ways in football, on the track and wrestling teams... getting laid all the time and partying with the best of'em.

I loved H.S. sometimes I wish I could go back for the glory days  (maybe I have an Al Bundy complex..... :D)

I ended up marrying the girl who all of us geeks lusted after in Junior High

I was a geek for cutting classes to smoke weed and go home to practice on my turntables.

I was well accepted in all crowds but my closest friends are the stoners who listened to rap. (My whole school was high; everybody smoked; everybody united):D

or at least that was your excuse for not getting invited... ooooo - just a joke ;)

organon - there is prom in ontario? i always thought prom was exclusively american.

Don't you live in Ontario Small? Did you go to highschool here? All the schools I have seen had a prom, weird your's didn't, or where you joking? I remember getting my armani tux and we got a brand new lincold limo. We pimped it into that place. I forget the name of the place it was held, but I believe it was in Scarborough. We got sooooo drunk before we went, the limo driver even let us smoke some of the kind in the car. Prom was awesome, I want to go to highscholl :bawling:

I was a total geek in high school. It was made even worse because I had a twin sister who was a cheerleader and student body president. She wouldn't even acknowledge me when we were at school.

However, in our senior year, we were both in the cafeteria. I threw an empty milk carton at her from across a couple of tables. Then, 1/2 the football team came after me to beat the shit out of me. He he he

One guy had me in a head lock and my sister was laughing and telling him to beat the shit out of me. It was pretty funny. Anyway, it ended up in a giant food fight and we were all suspended for three days.

My mom and dad were so pissed at us both that they took our cars away from us for a couple of weeks! The other guys who got suspended were football players. We all lived at the beach and ended up going to the beach for 3 days instead of school. After that, I was buddies witht the football players. But, my sister always hated me! he he he

Maybe not part of the "in" crowd perhaps just stupid. I went into my high school recently to get a transcript for a college transfer and I felt all scared and depressed in there. I would kill myself before having to live through that again. Not sure if things are much different now. I had friends in high school but maybe we were all just a group of losers.

I think me and my friends are all better off now. I don't remember having real geeky traits except for being real skinny. None of that star trek garbage (sorry to those who are fans.) I guess some kids are just not cut out for high school.

i lived in ontario just this past year but i'm from saskatchewan and no one does prom here. we all thought it was an american thing... we have grad, but it's not quite the deal a prom is, and there is no naming of kings and queens.

btw i graduated from high school 6 yrs ago (no grade 13). i hear the universities in ontario are bracing for the huge influx of studentsnext year due to the abolishment of grade 13. they were building an entire new building at western to accomodate this somewhat...

I was captain of the football team, prom king, homecoming king, and was selected all-state in football twice. I also played basketball, ran track, and powerlifted. I was a popular guy to say the least :)

I was considered an "arrogant jerk" (quote) in high school. How odd... my high school life consisted of being a good looking guy who always slept in class, talked to no one, and got A's and B's with little or no effort.

I guess success just isn't "cool" anymore.

-Warik

Yes I was a geek, but i always always liked by the "in-crowd" and I pretty much talked to everybody. I was never really picked on by many because I was always stocky in high school.. (fat but not like a lard ass or anything).. i was about 250lbs im guessing 28-30% bodyfat, but I hid it well because i was tall. By my senior year I started lifting and got down to 185lbs, body fat around 10% or so.. thats when I started to become more accepted and actually get the girls.. now im around 230lbs @ 14% and I get more girls thene ever.. I just wish I could re-do those highschool days!

I was the guy the popular guys loved to hate!!!!

I was 5'9 185lbs member of Student Council, track, football, Captain of the tennis team. Top 10%in my class, the Corp commader in JROTC and 2nd strongest dude in my school. But I still hung out with nerds I was a nerd at heart. They were more interesting. I made the big mistake of having the same girlfriend through out high school.

in grade 9-11 i was....
but suddenly i started working out summer of grade 11, when i came bach 30lbs lighter i was sddenly popular. damn superficial assholes at school

You couldn't PAY me to go back to high school - GEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEK. Then I wore my geekness proudly as a physics & engineering major in college. But compared to a lot of the "cool" people in high school..... I have a good job, a healthy lifestyle, no "baggage", I actually moved more than 20 miles away from my parents' house and hey, I still look 25!

I still find the "geek" crowd a little more down-to-earth and more reliable than the "beautiful" people I know. But then, variety is good. :D

~ sassy

dude

sorry, i cant really relate to some people troubles in highschool. I loved it. honestly, i was one of the most popular kids in school and had a great time......

yeah, highschool is not one of my best memories. I was a 120 pound nobody, could only make friends with the losers, never played a sport, got picked on all the time.
But now I can't wait till my 10 year reunion next year to see all the "jocks" and cheerleaders who rideculed me in all their fat loser ass glory. All the popular people from HS I see now are either fat, unemployed, or whatever. They all went through their prime at 17, now I'm 26 and never looked or felt better. Ahh, how good it is to have the last laugh.

im there now and to tell you the truth i feel very alone,im nto witht he in crowd maybe a geek but i dont care ,high school is tough,im dealing with friends who steal from me and dont act like friends at all,i fucking hate it

Skinny, not the greatest complextion, not many dates :(

Friends with almost all the rednecks, jocks, and popular folks though, hung out with them a lot. Friends with the skaters and garage band musicians too.

I was part of the so called "in" crowd but later made friends with people that were considered not so popular also. Guess I grew up already in h.s. :p

Hehehe got biggest flirt award too my senior year yiipppeee!!!

Who cares anyway h.s. is over what counts is how you are now.

At my school there were three main crowds. The jocks and cheerleaders, the smartypants, and the drug abusers. Very stereotypical school. I was 5'8 130lbs. and very rebellious so I fit right into the drug abusing crowd lol. When I think about all the drugs I did from about 15-19 it amazes me that I even made it into a decent university. It was cool though because all the crowds hung out with each other on the weekends and there wasn't too much hating going on. Though some of the jocks were a pain in the ass. Around sophomore year in college I starting working out religously and putting on some decent mass. Now when I see classmates from high school they are amazed at the different person I am. Guess I grew up. All in all high school wasn't that bad of an experience but I did waste a lot of time.

LOL...and you posted this at 4:20. :D

in highschool i was never really a jock or prep. i had like zero attention from females till my senior year, then i gues i was considerd a player my senior year. i was real shy too. i started lifting in 8th grade and got most of my size that year. i was mainly known as the big guy that didnt play any sports. i never liked sports. i played football for one year but didnt like it, i wasnt familiar with all the actuall game of football either. i never had many friends in highschool i usually was buy myself up till my senior year, when i lost weight and was looking cut up, i used to fuck around with all the little 14 year old freshmans. and also got involved with smoking alot of marijuana and gettin drunk before i go to class. it was kinda odd because i was all big into liftin weights but my senior year i would hang around alot of druggies and freshman ho's but still was pumpin iron

I was considered a burner/athlete in my high school days. Now I'm just considered to be in great shape, with only my close friends knowing about the "burner' part. LOL

Not a geek....bad kid in 1st 2 years, then went to different school and was more the quiet good kid that got along fine with everyone but wasnt part of them...usually get along with everyone fine.

I hung out with all the athletes.
Some were jocks some weren't.
High School was about sports. As many as you could humanly play.....LOL
All the crowds pretty much mingled on weekends.
I was captain of our soccer team so I never really had a problem.
I'm a pretty passive guy anyways. I did see people get picked on pretty badly though i was in HS though. Teenagers can be pretty cruel in retrospect.
And yes, the Prom does exist in Ontario......... :)

Fonz

I was kinda in the social group that hated the other social groups. The preps were gay, always thought they were better than everyone. The jocks were just really immature. But everyone thought everything was hilarious. I hung out with like 10 people total. Those were my close friends. I mean, i knew everyone, and was friendly to them, but i couldnt care less if they thought nothing of me. I was the short kid. 5'6" at the most through senior year. Skinny. No girls until senior year. I guess you could have called me a geek, or a dork, or whatever.

I think its funny, ironic, and cool at the same time that we're on a fitness discussion board, where almost everyone lifts weights and is in better shape than the average American, but most of us *weren't* athletic in high school.

We all live to lift, and the jocks that we're talking about lifted for about 4 years and seemed to quit after that. The only jocks that I knew from high school that stayed in good shape were the ones that went to college for sports.

Hung with the athletes in school. Didn't start lifting weights until conditioning for basketball senior year and then started lifting seriously about my junior year in college.

i am still in high school and what amazes the shit out of me is that the football players think that the are so big (muscle wise)they roll up their sleves and most of them weigh 130 at the most.my school has 4 cat. the preps, smokers, fags and normal people.my school is and has always been about politics

If i went back to highschool and rolled up my sleeves I'd bet I could get a piece of ass now....and thats with loosing 25lbs of hard earned mass.

Man, sorry to hear that many of you had such a bad experience while in HS. I on the other hand had a good time! I was captain of the soccer team, dated, got laid, had a "B" average, fucked around with friends, got into fights etc. I was (and I am today) real approachable and friendly. And just like back then, I still today get people that say "Hi" to me and I don't know who they are. Must be that Vin Diesel look I have... :fro:

I was never a dork or mr. cool in high school...
I was kind of in the middle... knew mostly everybody but always hung out with the party animals... Spent my lunch hours working out instead of socializing..
I think i had a pretty damn good time in high school... This is my fourth year out and YES i do miss it..

I`m in HS now.
I was definitely a geek in primary school but thats before IQ selection and most these kids were as thick as 2 planks anyway.

now in HS, first year i was a geek and after that is slowly got better. (as did my physical shape, rararara)

I`m not popular with the girls tho. i dont really know why. I`m 6"4 225 lbs and i consider myself decent looking... Im just always "in the friend zone"
I am somewhat shy
