I do, not certain about it though. The only problem with not updating is eventually MS stops supporting certain versions. Other than that I am pretty sure they are just using it as a spy tool.

I put a tinfoil hat on my laptop though so they can't spy on me.

LOL>. you douche bags..

Half those updates are security updates to fix security issues.

so we should do it then?

I checked and there was like, 30 of them that I was told to download. A lot of security ones. I suppose I have to download the oldest and then continue to patch it with the next one all the way to the latest date.

Don't forget the tinfoil hat too AAP.

always...

Plus I just had to download a file conversion patch so I can open DCX files from Office 2007 with my current Office package

DONT USE IT. I could go into a million reasons why..

manually download the patches after they have been posted for a while.

I design OS builds for a large company, we have a very large lab setup and a local WSUS server that delivers the patches ONLY after we run them through the ringer.

Ah yes.. so AAP should set a VERY LARGE LAB SETUP and local server to test and deploy patches?

WTF?

You're crazy motherfucker. Nothing wrong with windows update on a home PC for a PC n00b. Better to get the security patches that MS releases on ASAP than take the risk of being vulnerabile.

Kind of misunderstood me.. I was only implying that he shoudl wait for a whille before downloading patches.. not setup some big ass lab you reading noob

AAP doesn't make any money
he has to rip off songs and software etc.
come on now

AAP loves the obsession with AAP.

Know that at night while AAP is sleeping soundly with thoughts of AAP on his mind, other people are laying awake for the exact same reason. They are thinking of AAP too.

Envy... it's a bitch huh?

I haven't downloaded a single patch or update. Ever. Not in two years. Did I wait long enough? HA!

Anyway... should I decide to do this.... Do I have to go all the way to the very first one and download/update in order from earliest to latest? All 30+ of them? Or can I just go to the latest and do only that one. I would suspect that the latest would need to be applied to another previous patch and if I don't have that previous patch, it would fail.

Hell no.

I kept getting the pop-up "New updates are ready to install" thingy ever so often. Well after getting tired of seeing that I finally decided to update so it would go away.

After installing it said that windows needs to reboot. So I did.

Well my computer crashed and I spent two days trying to recover it. (This was my work computer).

Luckily I had my harddrive partitioned and so I didn't lose my project files....but I did lose windows and all my programs.

I WILL NEVER INSTALL THEM AGAIN. SCREW YOU MISCRSOFT I HATE YOU!

Manually installing them is the way to go. I've had problems with the malicious software removal tool and do not want that POS on my computer again. I accept most other security fixes though.
