How many hours a night do you sleep?

If you don't have to work the next day?
So many people tell me they can't sleep more than 7 hours, 8 max.
I need atleast 8 and can sleep ten easily.
 
I take a sleeping pill til I get the machine, so I wake up and go back out every 5 to ten minutes. I just hope I get the machine before I die LOL hahahahaha. Yes it can kill you. Anyway, I lay in bed for about 8 to 9 hours, depending if I had a decent nights rest. I do wake up with a headache and kinda groggy but that's from lack of Oxygen. I NEED THE MACHINE! LOL.... ok

If I cared enough, or had the motivation, I'd find that recent study that shows those who get 5-7 hours sleep per night are more productive, healthier, and happier than those who get 8-10 hours. Lately I've been in the 8 range, which may be why I have no desire to go find that article for you.

I'll vouch for this.....you live longer if you get about 7 hrs of sleep too.

must be the quality of the sleep, IDK. But the study says what I thought.
 
go to bed at midnight wake up at 6am
days off 1 or 2 am wake up at 10am

similar schedule for me, I always drag ass at work though. Caffeine just tweaks me and all around feel like shit.

yeah it's a vicious cycle
i should go to be earlier, i'm tired all day (after the am cofee wears off)
but i get home, eat and lift and i'm wide awake till at least midnight

I can sleep over 12 hours if I can sleep in. Usually because I only get 5-6 during the week.

I don't buy it. A study like that would have a damn hard time showing any type of causation. Ex: Many depressed people sleep all day because they're depressed. The depression isn't caused by sleeping too much, but rather a corollary. Most people need 7-8 hours. That's not to say more than that is better, just that that's roughly what most people should get.

I would say that your article is right and wrong.
It's not about the total hours of sell , it's about the hours of REM sleep.
REM sleep is deep sleep and high quality sleep which is rejuvenating to the body.

Many folks experience sleep apnea which is a loss of breathing during sleep and the body has to wake you up in order to restore breathing. That's probably the biggest drawback to quality sleep

Sleeping 8 hours and tossing all night is not quality sleep. Those people probably do wake up tired. Sleeping 6-7 doesn't mean it's quality sleep either.
