How many freinds do you have?

Havoc's thread on trust got me thinking. How many friends do you have?

I know a lot of people. I mean, a fucking ton of people...mostly through work, school or whatever, and I hang out with a few on a regular basis. But when I think about it, I realize I only have two close friends (not including family).

What about everyone else?

I know a countless amount of people, mainly through work and school--However out of all of them, not including family, I would consider only 4 of them to be my "true" friends. These are the people in my life that want the best for me, and are able to tell me even though they know I may not agree. These are the people I am able to share my fears and dreams with and know that they will always support me without criticism.

this damn thought crosses my mind literally every single day...

i'm pretty sure i have 2 "true" friends...not including family (but i can't trust alot of them as well). always there for me (emotionally, physically, financially -if necessary). it sucks to be friends or acquaintances with so many people and not be able to trust them completely.

Throughout your whole life you will have many aquaintances but lucky if you establish one good friend. Somebody that willl drop what ever they're doing to rush to your aid

I have 3 best friends. and 3 sets of friends.

Set 1. is my best friends... there are 3

Set 2. are my drag racing buddies... there are a bunch

Set 3. is ECHWAM.... there is about 23 or 24

then of course there is Polar and Toga.... and The Nature Boy.... but I am not sure if he really likes me or is just trying to get me to watch vigilante movies.

That's the key...and not only is real friendship hard to develop, 99% of the human beings on this planet have no concept of loyalty - a necessary component in real friendship.

I've got 4 - different states all of us. It's been a couple of years since I met the last person that could make the jump in my mind from acquaintaince to friend.

3 true, reliable friends who I trust immensely...we also probably all have that set of "friends" that we accept for who they are, but know that we can't count on them when necessary.

As for close friends...there is nothing like realizing just how much they mean to you and just how rare it is to have people who truly care about you until you are surrounded only by 'fake' friends and not one of them would notice if you fell off the face of the earth until the weekend rolls around or they need a favor from you. Lucky for me, I've learned that lesson and I will never forget it again!

as for the others, havent known them enough to trust em
