how many carbs?

Anyone know about how many carbs a day you need? i'm 185lbs 5'9" age 27 wanting to drop waist line to around 32" its at 35" now when i get out of bed before my day begins. I have been reading a book that recommends 5 meals a day: meal 1 and 2 it tells to take in 110 grams of carbs and 75 grams of protein per meal, meal 3 and 4 it tells to take in 55 grams of carbs and 35 grams of protein per meal and meal 5 is your bed time meal and it tells to take in 25 grams of carbs and 40 grams of protein. Is this sound right? To me that sounds like alot of carbs. Also cardio is 20 min a day for 5 days. Any help would be appreciated.

your BMR is around 2200

I have been reading a book that recommends 5 meals a day:
that's a good way to start, 5 meals

meal 1 and 2 it tells to take in 110 grams of carbs and 75 grams of protein per meal,
HOW ABOUT FAT!
that means you're taking in about 1480cal for the two meals
and ALREADY WAY too many carbs (220g)


meal 3 and 4 it tells to take in 55 grams of carbs and 35 grams of protein per meal
AGAIN, NO FAT! (this diet is awful already)
TOO MANY CARB! (110g carbs)
CALORIES=720


and meal 5 is your bed time meal and it tells to take in 25 grams of carbs and 40 grams of protein.
CAL=260...not that bad...BUT WHERE IS THE FAT!

Is this sound right?
no, it does NOT sound right at all

To me that sounds like alot of carbs.

TOTAL CALORIES
~2500 , total CARBS=355! ...protein=260, NO FAT!
That's ~57% carbs/43% protein/0%fat

THIS IS WHAT YOU SHOULD AIM FOR: REALISTICALLY
DAILY CALORIES=2000 (about 10% below BMR)
50% protein/30% carbs/20% fat
DAILY: 250g protein/150g carbs/45g fat
IN 5meals: PER MEAL=> 50g protein/30g carbs/9g fat

thanks for the help i will continue to read and learn about carbs, protein, and fat. Do you follow the diet recommendations that you recommended? Just wondering how you don't get hungry. Would you post an example of one days diet. Also do you have any type of snack foods? What do you eat when you get hungry between meals?

all depends on the situation i'm in

5-htp (a supplement you can buy at a drug/health food store and of course the good old 3 gallons of water a day w/ self-will
Would you post an example of one days diet.
my diet? that would not help you...you're 185, i get up to 250 at times

Also do you have any type of snack foods?
salad/veggies

What do you eat when you get hungry between meals?
eat a small salad
