much easier getting it done on turbo tax...easy step by step for regular or itemized deductions. plus does the calculations for you. all you have to do is sign it ez file it or mail it.
I kinda looked into it (not very hard though) and decided to do it manually. I used 3 1040 forms before I got it right. But at least now I know how to do it. I had a CPA do it last year for $250, but only because I knew I was getting a big refund, and they knew the ins and outs for a return on a purchase of a home. Especially the $5000 tax credit for a first home purchase in the District.
I just took what they had from last year, went over my W2's, filled in the blanks, worked the tables, and still came out with a good return.
I have no idea why, but the DC tax filing was harder than the federal filing.
Dont they charge for that? I remember last year there was a list of companies you could do it through and for it to be free you had to meet all sorts of requirements.
