How long would you be willing to commute for work?

I used to have to commute an hour each way, well it was an hour without snowstorms anyway, or friday afternoon traffic heading up to cottage country. It wasn't enjoyable, mainly because it turned a 12 hr day into 14+.
I'm enjoying my 4hour a day job with a 5 min "commute" now
God I love my life :)

Right now the distance between my two jobs is close to an hour. Otherwise, house to my main job is about 40 minutes.....depending on traffic, weather and how fast I am going. :D

My commute is anywhere from 1:10 to 1:35 each way, depending on which train I take and if I walk from Penn Station to work or take the subway. It isn't as bad as it sounds - on a train you can read or take a nap (I doze off a lot in the mornings - kind of a post-workout nap), but they are crowded, especially since the single-occupant-car restrictions since 9/11.

I can live with this, but I don't think I could put up with anything longer than this.

I do 25 minutes in the A.m and about 35-40 in the late afternoon after I workout. I am thinking of moving closer to work. I love the farm country but some days it is a royal pain the ass!

Well lets put it this way, what would you do with the extra time? My dad used to have to drive about an hour a day on a good day and at home with those 2+ hours what would he be doing, probably reading or something....so he rented a lot of audio tapes and listened to books and foreign language lessons and stuff :)

Now obviously the less drive the better...but there are some things that are ok about a long drive.

I drive 30-45 min each way, but it's totally worth it because I live in this apt complex totally surrounded by a big park with all these trails and things

I sell "vacation ownership" ie timeshare, at the nicest resort here in Cabo. Short hours, great money. it's commision only though.
