How is this possible (computer question)

Let see if this is any better

I originally had 2 HDD's. One HDD had my OS (C: ) and the other HDD (D: ) had a folder for music

I then disconnected the HDD that housed my music so I could install a new HDD so I should be left with just C:

I installed the new HDD then isntalled XP and apps onto the new HDD (F: )

then I took out the HDD that originally had the OS (C: ) so I could install it into another computer so I should be left with only the F: .

I then reconnected the drive that had my music (D: )

So now I'm left with my new HDD (F: ) and the other HDD (D: ) that had my music, so I think.

I boot up and look in disk management.

I now have Disk 0 (new drive) which is F: that I boot off off.

Then I have Disk 1 that has a C: partition which has a complete installation of XP and a G: partition which has my music. I don't know where this C: came from b/c it should have disappeared when I took the HDD out.

So right now I'm booting off of my F: drive and now have a partitioned drive out of nowhere. Disk 1 should have music only on it yet now has XP also. Is this even remotely possible?

So I initially had 2 HDD's one with a C drive and the other with a D drive. I now have an F drive on one HDD and a C drive and E drive on the other HDD. Where did the extra drive letter come from?

i could prob answer your question if i took the time to read what u wrote... but i got halfway thru and my head started hurting.

That is pretty confusing. Is it just the drive letters that are off? If that's the case you can fix that in disk administrator. Do you have your jumpers set correctly? If they are both on the same control one has to be a master and another a slave. If they are on different controllers, that can both me masters.

No shit.

If it wasn't for my horse, I wouldn't have spent that year in college.

I think that one of your physical drives has a logical partion on it. You should be able to fix it in the disk administrator of XP. It's a little tricky though.
