how important are your PETS?

i adore my oldest dog, she's almost 6 and she's been by my side since 6 weeks old.. she sleeps right next to me in bed, she's laying right next to me now...

i love this dog so much i actually almost come to tears thinking of the day when she will die (had a bad experience with my first dobe's sickness)... she's healthy as an ox, but i still worry...

My tubby cat has been w/ me since 1 week before Hurricane Andrew hit & we rode it out together. He's been across the country 2x w/ me and he's pushing 15 yrs old. I got him when he was 9 weeks old. He doesn't shed but he occassionally yaks on the carpet & sheds alot.

I love my 2 cats in the way people feel about their children.....They ARE my children.....I call them my fur-kids.... LOL

Oh and I actually don't think of them as pets but as fur-covered beings that live with me....

they stink if they dont get a bath all winter

but in general they are pretty clean dogs, dont shed too much... NEED TO BE NEAR THEIR OWNER... they are not outside dogs, they are family dogs and are just unbelievably sweet.

I don't have a pet, ( my husband doesn't want any pets in the house) but mainly because I would not have time for it. However I would love a black teacup poodle, they are so cute and feel like chenile.

i know when i was a kid we had a dog that got that disease or whatever that puppies get and they end up dying usually?
anyway my mom put him in the hospital and he was in there for days and he ended up getting better and he lived to be a good old dog

i just paid 400 cuz my boy pup ate my wife's thong... i found around 15 of them in the backyard after winter... i laid into the wife, the dog WILL DIE from intestinal blockage if that shit keeps up... plus, 400 fucking dollars!!!

my mom and i spent around 5K on my first dobe... congestive heart failure, ekg's every other week at 800 a pop.

Your wife left 15 thongs laying around? Or the dog is trained to seek them out??? Dam. Sorry to hear that tho - its just tragic when your pets get sick. All our pets have lasted at least 15 yrs (except my little bro's cat who had luekemia at 2 yrs). Our golden retriever ("Flame of Carlisle") had this tumor thingy that started to grow like crazy at age 15 -- my dad had it removed but apparently it wasn't all gone. That was a sad day. THEN, my dad had her cremated and we had a "box o' Flame" in the garage for about 10 yrs when I guess he finally got past it all to sprinkle her in the back yard.

My grandparents went thru several toy poodles - all lasting at least 12 yrs and all named "Suzie". The last one finally passed in the middle of winter - Grandpa had already dug a little hole for her in the yard but she just kept staying around - blind, deaf, frail, for like years. So when she finally passed, they kept her in a coffee can in the cellar until the ground thawed and they could get to the hole.

The current tubby cat is the only pet I've personally had -- he's just fat & happy, not a sick day in his life so far. I don't look forward to if / when he hits those frail days...

Can't express the love I have for my min pins (3). I have a favorite and I think I would risk getting hit by a car to save him. I have 2 cats also!
