how has this "event" affected your life?

i am really looking for replies from people who have not lost anyone in this... its obvious that those who lost someone have had part of their lives destroyed and devastated... i am sure EVERYONE's heart feels for you...


but for those who have not lost anyone, non newyork area people... how has this affected you? be honest please...

for me, its made me wonder, that is all really... it took sports away and i honestly dont think there will be a football season now... unless somehow america is safe again, i dont think things will go on as people think... i dont travel much, i had no loved ones in NY, i never saw the WTC in person (though i watched a movie last night and in the previews, there it was, we rewound the tape a few times just to see it, i know its in the friends credits, so i wonder if they will take that out... anyway...)

its still kind of hard for me to understand all this... i have no idea how dramatic this must have been for those who are locals to NY or have ties there...

by the way, dont read into this like "mad b doesnt care" cuz that is the farthest thing from the truth.. you cannot read into ones emotions from a silly thread on a chat board that is full of non credible bullshit info (predictions, satans picture, etc...) unless their topics are full of hate and anger (need i really go into that?)

OK well let me just explain some conversations with American tourists here in Dublin last night.
As well as being a full time soldier I work part time as a bouncer. The bar/club I work in is right in the middle of our tourist area. So anyway in expressing my condolences to Americans last night the reply I got everytime was "Now we know what the Irish have suffered for year's now", if only you could have stood in my shoes flabergasted listening to this. WE HAVEN'T A FUCKING CLUE WHAT IT'S LIKE TO SUFFER SOMETHING LIKE THIS. My god America wake up, the world is suffering with you. Nobody can possibly explain this to me. I seriously think if I went to a doctor tomorrow and told him I could'nt stop thinking about the WTC and the scene's I've seen on TV he'd tell me I'm suffering Post Tramatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). I know because I suffered with in it 1988 when I returned from service in Lebanon. And I have those very same feeling's now, and I'm not even in America.
Madbomber you've made some good posts here since the tragedy this is the best, now maybe some people here will realise what their going through and begin to release those feeling now. Guys instead of relying to this thread will threats against Afghanistan etc.. we've read them all now and I agree with most. Lets get our feeling of pain and hurt out into the open now, regardless how much it pains to do so.

somehow i will still be told to "move the fuck to the middle east and die"....

one more point to make--- my mother, full blooded lebanese is AFRAID to admit it to anyone... she didnt have anything to do with this stuff, yet is afraid if people know her heritage that she will be beaten and raped... she was born and raised here, my grandfather worked on the lines in world war 2, making planes i believe... and yet, my family must lie??? i guess the point i was making was that this is how it affected my immediate family.

My nephew and his fiance live in the D.C. area. He is a studying to become a Dr. in the Navy. His fiance works near the pentagon.

Yes they are upset by this, but they are dealing with it the best they can.

I believe he was told he would be transferred to one of the carriers, but they decided they needed him at Bethasda Hospital.

Hope he going to stay on US soil, but if he has to serve on one of the carriers later on, he will be more than able to help.
