How does one use their computer to increase organization.....

I've seen it done but never did it myself. I use 4 day timers for 2003 and 2004, they walk around a lot for various reasons and remembering scheduling can be a problem.

I need my computer to pop up and say, "Dude, you have to be at XYZ at 4PM on Monday, August 4th, 2003."

Any help on this?

Or if you can't handle Outlook, just stick Post It Notes all over the screen when you sit down...you can't miss 'em. Other than that, the computer makes a great area to start a bookshelf or nightstand. It can also make a great footrest if you play your cards right.

There is a fortune waiting to be made here guys. Imagine the popularity of a scheduler that popped up and reminded you a few times.

I was thinking of another money maker.....a group where members could trade their porno stash. With DVD, this could work quite well. Some of the best porn is about impossible to find. In fact, some of the most mind boggling figures never partook in the mainstream porno market.

i have a calendar in which i can type events and important dates which pop up.

i use an mp3 alarm to wake me up in the morning also.

The guy who sits next to me at work has little reminders pop up every 2 minutes. For me post it notes are fine-- preferably the pretty girly variety (shoes, flowers, sparkles) and not the regular yellow office-stock ones. If I really need to be somewhere, I'll remember it.

Well you must dress and act provocatively. I suppose that little pop ups would not be too frightening.

Is this thread a joke?

Outlook does this, and has done it for years. Outlook Express, the free mail client that comes with IE, does not do this. Outlook is the mail/contact manager/calendar program that comes with the business versions of MS Office.

If you want to share porn via the net, then you have just discovered why P2P software is wildly popular.

Well......not everyone works with computers very much.

I remeber you were saying you had debt problems... I would suggest downloading Quicken deluxe from Kazaa and using it!

It really keeps me from missing bills and it makes budgeting a breeze.

It's to bad "Autonomous Robots" are still black! Other than the killing part, it sounds like you need one!

I just have more credit card debt than I should thanks to the recession. July was a great month though.

I have never had luck with free software, I'd rather pay than deal with problems.

Ive been trying to use outlook, but for some reason the alarm doesnt go off.

I'm pretty computer literate and it seems pretty straight forward but it just doesnt go off or it goes off later than it should.

Any tips, on using outlook for the alarm/calender functions???

Why would a computer be late or overdue in the alarm going off??
Seem like outlook doesnt go off until I check it and then it says it is so many min overdue.

Get a PDA sync'ed with outlook and set the calender's meeting reminders to go off ahead of time.

The Desktop will popup x min before the appt saying who/what/where

The PDA also will popup and beep x min before saying the same thing when you are away from the PC.

regarding outlook not ringing on time, if you open the reminder in its own dialog window, you will note that it has a provision to remind you at a certain time before the alarm time, you can chose anywhere from zero minutes, to a whole week before the alarm (useful if you want to know at 7:25am that you have 35 minutes to get to school on time)...

for most folk, this may seem excessive, but over time, you will find the fact you can chose the ringer to go off before the alarm time is quite a useful feature....

just chose the zero minutes option and it will ring at the same time as the alarm

also, consider the many ways you can use reminders .... many phones can sync up with computers (either by cables, infrared, or bluetooth) and thus upload alarms right to your phone.... this is very useful because you set the alarms on your computer, then just hit the sync button (most computers make it as easy as one-click to do this) and your phone now will remind you of what you need to do anywhere you are......

of course, this is for those of you who like cataloging every available minute, im sure some folks consider this the work of the devil, but for those of us who do dozens of things a day, it's definitely a good thing.....

but one thing to keep in mind is that although gadgets are fun to own, im a firm believer that a gadget should serve a practical purpose, and not just be an interesting timewaster, and to that end, i always insure that what i buy will fit into my lifestyle..... so that your phone can sync with your computer, or your pda, and most importantly, that you don't waste all your time trying to figure it all out...

is that why you didn't hack into Code's firewall?
too busy figuring out your phone?

I hate when that happens. You could probably do it now though right?

was it 15 seconds or 15 minutes? 15 days?

you must be referring to the previous post in which i was referring to the obvious inefficaciousness of most typical MS Windows firewalls ...

i fail to see why you would feel the need to drag this topic into an unrelated area such as this and then make assumptions on my preference of gadgets as timesavers and also assume that I am unable to do certain things....

nevertheless, if you feel the need to goad me into a response, i will give only this response, and no other response... as i hate redundancy, and carrying on meaningless conversations....

what i said was that i can crack most software firewalls within 15 seconds given the ease with which their most common weakness (buffer overflow, or ascii drop) can be expoited. Windows software firewalls tend to be the easiest, with Unix (and its variants) firewalls being the closest to a true hardware firewall due to their relative immunity to all but a root attack.

in order for me to break the laws of any user's ISP (reverse engineering a network is illegal, regardless of whether the user agrees to it), i have to have a compelling reason to do so and frankly, i would not make it known if i had done such an act, given the fact that I DO plan on having a future in this life........ discovering someone's IP at the time of hack, setting up primary and secondary relays, and manually interacting with the "client" is not a task which can be accomplished with scripts if you want to evade prosecution....

but, all im writing could be hyperbole, as i have no plans on proving it, regardless of how much you goad...
