How does one go about finding a babysitter?

I had someone that a very good friend recommended. Now I have to hire a stranger. I`m not too happy about that.

How do you go about looking for one? In the newspaper? They would care for my <2 year daughter in my house.

Could be part time to full time. Depending how it goes I guess.

My wife is a schoolteacher so she knows all of the young people around here and what they are like.

If you know any schoolteachers, try asking them and see if they can give you some names of their good students.

I got grabbed to be a babbysitter last night. My girlfriend and her best friend needed to do business stuff. Her friend has three girls, ages 6, 8, and 10. I got stuck babysitting.

The girls and I had a blast. We went to www.writeaprisoner.com where you can write to people in prison and looked for a penpal for their mom.

The girls had a blast opening up the guys' profiles, seeing their pictures, reading about their crimes. After a while they started feeing like they scored when they opened up the profile and the guy was in for a really cool crime. They got pissed of when somebody was in for something whimpy like selling crack. Then they started giving each other a point if they picked a murder. A bank robber was worth half a point. (And we gave two points for the guy who was in for "fist fight killing" cuz he had a cool crime and was covered with tatoos.)

We were lucky too. We found a great guy for the girls' mom. His release date is 2052, but that will just give them time to really get to know each other.

The easiest way to find one would be like HM said and check with school teachers if you know any.

Also, ask your friends that have kids. See who they use. Word of mouth is one of the best advertisements that a good baby-sitter can get.

Thanks everyone. I could`nt be here all day. Good advice.

The sitter I had was a best friend of someone close to me, So that was great. She was a college student and has a few mornings off and would come to the house . She was pretty flexible as was I.

We used her about 3X/week. The new sitter would be 3-5X/week. Depending on how busy I am. I work at home.

It would also be during the workday/schoolday so students would`nt work I guess.



SofaGeorge gave me an idea. I`m sure Ex-cons are in need of odd jobs when they get out. There should be bros realeased daily. I`ll go to the jail and ask.

I`ll try to get lower point value cons. George do those girls still have their lists? I could use it. lol

MY cuz hired a babysitter. He also installed a fully featured survelliance system all over the house that recorded everything that was going on in major rooms. That is how he learned whether to trust her or not.

Oh, I have one of those. I call her wife. She`s at work all day though. lol


revexrevex, My friend did that with the cameras everywhere in his house when he hired a nanny. What a world we have to live in these days. "I trust you with my kid, but I don`t trust you" lol

I don`t blame them for putting the cameras but it`s still a messed up world to have to do that. It sucks.
