How Do You Think My Dad Will Like This?

Tomorrow is his 68th birthday and he's in poor health with Parkinson's disease. From the time I turned 14, our relationship soured and was never the same. I still can't talk with him without holding back affection. But I think I did something that will mean the world to him. I went by the trophy store and I'm having a plaque dedicated to him. It says, "We want to dedicate this to you and honor you with love, admiration, and respect for the way that you have always taken care of your family. You legacy as a loving father is cemented in history forever." Signed, Your Children.

I think he's gonna like this.

biteme, sorry to hear about your dad. i really am. that would be a cool ass present for sure.

Thanks guys. We're gonna take him and my mom out to dinner tomorrow night and present the plaque there. He may break down. He's been very emotional lately. This man was Mr. Positive his whole life, nothing ever got him down, he started at 18 and worked his way up the ladder for Mobil Oil. When he retired he was making 100K and didn't have a degree. He used to get on my nerves because he was so positive, he would come in my room and say, "Rise and Shine!" I wanted to say, "Get the fu.. out of here, I don't have the attitude you have." He did it all. Coached me and my brother in sports and always had championship teams. I hated him for a long time after our fallout but now having a child of my own, I know what he wants. Just to be loved and respected and to see his children succeed and be happy.

They are giving the thumbs up saying Miami U Miami of Ohio
That was my college and i had a sticker on my car for Miami U
so my boy in the back htought they were being cool and was like whats up
Brothas threw a full bottle of beer at my car, shattering it against my driver side door. glass/beer went everywhere

and for what reason?

I hope you all enjoy yourself. make sure you take pictures.

Life is to short to worrie about the little things in life. Live every day as if it were your last and never forget to tell the one that mean the most that you love them very much.

Man that would piss me off. I hate fuckers who screw with other peoples stuff. Buy a paintball gun and some brake fluid. Throw the brake fluid on the Escalade and pelt those fuckers with paintballs. Probably 3 million Escalades with brothers in them in LA. I hate LA way too many fucking people. I like people but thats too many. Hopefully they fuck with the wrong dude and get fucked up.

That's because you are sweet.

I'm in the same boat as many on this thread:

- My father is 64, I'm 19. :worried:
- My father has been on steroids so he can breath because he has asthma and he hasn't been the same since.

So I can relate, I might have to do that.

Oh yeah, he will LOVE that shit! It will really make everything better to him :)

I still remember the first time I told my dad I loved him.... I was 23 and about to leave for basic training.... I will never forget the look in his eyes.... He just seemed so....proud.

HAHA, Jesus. He sounds like your exact opposite with the personality thing.

It sounds like a really good present and I'm sure he'll like it.

It was a beautiful moment. We all had dinner. It takes him a long time to eat. Then we sang happy b-day to him and while he was eating b-day dessert, I went out to the car and got the plaque. I read it to him and he broke down and cried. So did my brother and sister and I had to fight it to keep from it also.
