How do you refer to yourself

When talking to yourself (in your head)

I just noticed that I talk to myself as if my interior self and my exterior self are 2 different entities. In other words, I refer to myself in plural form, as in "we can do this", "we did good", unless I did soemthing wrong then my inner self scolds my outerself as in "you fucked up", etc... I find that very interesting, don't know what it might mean, maybe its common. Do you use I as in "I gotta do this"? Do you use your name as in "stop fucking around Bob" or what? I am fascinated to learn how other people refer to themselves.

I refer to myself as "The Person that the little people look up to". Exactly.

I just use "You" and "I"

sometimes though I will scold myself by thinking something like "Chewy you lazy bastard.....study you lazy ass bitch"

lol I swear at myself.....it gets me to do things. people refer to me as chewy IRL

good question.

another one kinda on the same level - I wonder what language people who are bi-lingual "think" in. I would assume it would be their native-born language but for example people who speak spanish who live in english speaking countries and speak english all day long......are they still thinking in spanish? or english? :)

That is one good question, my friend.

I'm bilingual. Spanish is my first language. Sometimes I think in Spanish and sometimes in English. It depends on what it is I am thinking about.

Someone one asked me if I dreamt in Spanish or English. The dreams that I do remember are always in English.

My mom's native language is English but she is bilingual. I asked her if she thinks in Spanish or English. Weird thing is she thinks in Spanish most of the time.

Hmmm...so I guess it really just depends on the person.

before my good dipset i refered to myself as "****(my name), your gunna fucking do this or the hot lady doing back extensions whose shirt you just looked down is going to laugh at you"

only problem is, i think i might have said it outloud, because during my set all the girls in the ab section were looking at me :worried:

Wow, so far it looks like refering to myself in plural form is kind of odd (or unique). I wonder if any of the psychology buffs on the board know what that may mean.

I'm also bilingual (spanish), but English is my main language so I always think in English. The funny thing is, several years ago, right after I finished high school, I spent 6 months in Mexico. After some time of speaking Spanish all the time, I noticed that I also thought in Spanish. It took a while after I came back to the US to return to thinking in English.

If I've really screwed up, I'll use my name. I'll say, "Good job _______" or something like that. Now if I'm just planning out a course of action about something, I use "I" most of the time.

when im contemplating trauma or stress i use 'we'
When i am thinking about normal day to day stuff i use "I" and "you"
i virtually never use my own name.

ive never thought about why i sometimes say 'I' and sometimes 'you' though.

I've never really thought about this before...

When it's a positive, I use first-person. "I'm the shit," etc.

But when it's negative, I'll use second-person but not my actual name. Just insulting ones. And it'll always be very sarcastic. Like "way to go cockface." Then I usually hit something.
