How Do You Guys Open Your Amps?

Get a piece of toilet paper and push it out on the dot and pop the top off and viola. Also you can use a bic pin top. That works also.

I also used a small file to score with nile sustanon amps then a bic pen cap over top and pops right off with a little pressure.

speaking of opening amps... once or twice i opened a Galenika amp and a piece of glass fell in there. i tried real hard not to get it in the pin, ouch, wouldn't want that to happen. and someone else said that a peice of the white strip fell in one of theirs, too.

Those amps are the hardest to open I've ever seen! The damn paint around some of them is the kicker, some don't have the paint and are easier to score/open.
 
Bic pen cap. I haven't broken an amp in many years using it. The only tough amp to crack that I've run into is Galenika. I have to use a jewelers triangle file to score it first then it'll pop right off.

I don't know why people get concerned with broken glass getting in the needle. It has to be on a microscopic level (nearly) and if that's the case it's not going to cause any harm. I use wire cutting pliers to just snip the top off and I'm done. Simple, easy and didn't cost me anything. I've used this method for primo liquid amps, and HCG. It's always worked for me.
Just wipe your pliers with alcohol and you're ready to snip!

Do yourself a favor and get the amp opener. I got one and it's the best investment I ever made. Amps open easily EVERY time. I use to do the file thing with the "bic pen" thing to snap it off. The amp opener is the only way to go.

Your right. Mine were like four years ago no paint and i swear i had to file at it 15 minutes to get a half decent break. I remember reading at the time people were having trouble with that brand.
 
Amps you see in the hospitals come pre-scored at the neck, so that you can just snap them off. They are super easy to open.

The amp opener won't score the ones with the paint ring....the ones you are talking about just require a little "back and forth" with the opener. Still shatter on occassion, though.

I use about 2 inches of the clear "Scotch" tape, wrapped around the top 1 inch of the ampule, then cut it with a pair of plyers. The tape holds on to any fragments of glass.
 
Hold it like your are about to flick a lighter and just pop the top off to the side. I do this one handed takes 3 seconds every time. Perfect circular cut, no shards.
 
I score them with a file and use a pen top. Sometimes I apply too much pressure and the top just pops off while I'm filing it.
 
Friend that works at hospital scores me some filtered syringes to make sure no glass gets in.I use those for drawing it out.
 
what kind of file are you guys using there? some kind of glass cutter? i personally hate amps. i've been pretty clumsy in the past and ended up wasting whole injections. i have always used a big scissors to crush the neck with. so the sudden jerk when it snaps has caused it to spill with the thing still in my fingers or i may lose my grip on the thing... either way, i've lost gear :(
 
I use the one on my Swiss Army knife. The closer to the handle I use, the less chance, it seems, I have of applying too much pressure and popping the top off. It scores the glass pretty quickly and then it's just a matter of how much scoring you want to do before snapping. When I have prematurely popped the top off while scoring, it's still come off cleanly.

Snap it in a direction such that the scored part is the first to separate.
