I use some santi flush, then scrub with a brush, only when it gets too nasty to look at though.

spray a bathroom cleaner on it (Ka BOOM) and wipe it down with paper towels

kills germs bacteria
gives a clean white shine

and i use it on the inside of the toliet too so no water rim
