how do u judge results?

hey guys got a question? i hear so many people in my gym talk about blowing up or they gained 20 lbs or whatever. i'm about to do a bulking cycle, and of course i want to gain alot of weight, but i've always judged improvement by the mirror and measuring tape instead of the scales. for example, my arm are almost 15 1/2 now and my goal is to gain weight of course, but mainly i want to push my arms up an inch. what do u guys think about this?
 
combination of beginning weight and BF% compared to ending #'s is the best. Mirrors lie depending on your frame of mind, calipers and scales do not!
 
The measuring tape never lies.... Before I start a cycle (like this weekend) I measure all I can then compare that through out cycle and most importantly a month or so after I am off....

The scale is fun to watch but you never know how much of that is water....
