How do u add smilies in elite?

Is this a joke? When you post a message, look to the left of the big field where you type your message. There is a panel with abunch of smily's etc. Clicking the link below it which says "get more" will pop open a larger window wityh more selections. Clicking a selection adds it to your post, or you can manually enter the text to indicate which smile you want.
