How do the Kuwaiti people feel about america?

I am guessing that going on how the Kuwaitis feel about the US will be a good guage on how the Iraqi people are going to feel about the US. Are there any polls or whatnot? I realize Arab hatred runs to the bone but i am guessing salvation from a life of torture, poverty & misery may overcome alot of that.
 
Somewhat ironic that the KUWAITI's of all people would hold that opinion,being that if not for us,Saddam would still be ruling them and plundering their country.Strange.
 
I THINK THEY ARE MORE WORRIED ABOUT RELIGION AND WHATNOT TO ACTUALLY EXPRESS THAT THEY APPROVE/LIKE THE AMERICANS. KUWAIT IS ENGULFED IN AMERICAN CULTURE.

Thats what i thought, the US freeing them from poverty, torture & repression would change their attitudes. Nope. They hate us more than Lebanon hates us.
 
Well,I can't say that I agree with this current Iraq stuff,but we did the right thing back in the early 90's,and we saved the Kuwaiti's asses,so they are definitely fucked in the head and hugely ungrateful fucks if that's truly the way they feel after what we did for them.
 
THEY'RE ALMOST AS FUCKED IN THE HEAD AS FRANCE IS. AND TO MAKE IT EVEN FUNNIER, CHIRAC INSISTS ON HAVING SAY SO IN WHATS GOING TO HAPPEN WITH IRAQ. EVEN AFTER HIS STERN OPPOSITION TO THE U.S. GOING IN IRAQ. LOL....IDIOT.

as for the kuwaiti's, they dont like u much now because u effectivly set up shop in their country and turned it into a military base. this time it wasnt to help them directly so they aint to grateful. plus no-one out there really likes america.....if we;re being honest. love britain though, strange since we;ve been butt fucking them since the 1900's

I'm not sure no one Likes america. I'd wager 50% of the world likes us. At the very least they like what we have to offer the world non-militarily (entertainment, medicine, technological advances, the internet).

So you're saying that Arab mentality has nothing to do with dislike for the US? i find that hard to believe. We haven't done shit (other than be the scapegoat de jure) to most of the countries in the middle east who have an unfavorable view of us just as much as Kuwait. What have we done to Egypt? Lebanon? Jordan? The countries we have fucked with tend to have have a positive view though. I read in "what the world thinks in 2002" that the Vietnamese have a 71% favorable view of the US, Honduras has an 80% favorable. So it can't be directly due to the actions of the US. You can read the report here i'd say 60% of the world has a favorable view. Time to sing 'i feel pretty, oh so pretty'.

Anyway, the Kuwaities for the most part are probably appreciative of what the United States did for them, but alot of them simply hate Americans still solely because of their religion. And yeah, they are a bunch of ungrateful shits just like the French.

ACTUALLY, KUWAIT IS VERY VERY WEALTHY IN ITSELF. THEY HAVE A LOT OF OIL UNDER THAT SMALL AREA.

Its not b/c they don't LIKE the US.

Its simply b/c to them the US represents a BAD influence in terms of their religion and way of life.

You have to understand the religious mentality there.

Look at how conservative they are, and how they treat their women. Alcohol is illegal and so is advertising sex.

Now, take a look the the US MTV Rap culture. Booze, drugs, sex half-naked girls whatever.

They simply don't want the US culture to rub off on their own.

Thats it. Simple I'll grant you...but thats the ghist of the problem.

And BTW, nothing will change that...except maybe time.

Because Kuwait's oil is very important to the US (and they found out that Iraq was not going to share the Kuwati oil with the US).

Plus, if you have not noticed, Kuwait is on the Persian Gulf and has almost as much oil as all of Iraq.

True, but its also a sense of humiliation that is behind their rage. I think Arabs feel entitled to be no. 1 because they were no. 1 for about a millenium and they probably feel like gods chosen people for being muslim. Now they are arguably the poorest, most ignorant, most repressed/backwards area on earth, and have become nothing more than western civilizations gas station. That pisses them off too. Must suck going from the star quarterback to the guy who towels off the second string fullback.

the thing was that the US ambassedor said that what Arabs do is none of our concern (i.e. we do not care if you take over Iraq), then the upper guys realized that Iraq would not give us the oil at the same price as the iraqi...

or... the Royal Fam said that we would sell it to the US very cheap if they kicked saddam out (considering that they would have nothing if saddam won).
 
THE U.S. DIDNT ALLOW THE IRAQI INVASION OF KUWAIT. KUWAIT WAS TAKING OIL FROM A TRANSITIONAL AREA BETWEEN IRAQ AND KUWAIT IN '88. THEY WERE TAKING IT THE WHOLE TIME IRAQ AND IRAN WERE FIGHTING. SADDAM GOT PISSED B/C HE THOUGHT THE OIL WAS HIS.

I'M NOT SAYING THAT THE U.S. ONLY WENT IN TO GET RID OF IRAQ. I'M SURE THEY WERE INTERESTED IN THE OIL BUT THE U.S. DIDNT ALLOW THE INVASION TO HAPPEN. IF THEY REALLY DID FIND OUT IRAQ WASNT GOING TO SHARE OIL WITH THE U.S., THAT WAS JUST EXTRA INCENTIVE TO GET IRAQ OUT OF KUWAIT.

She didn't tell us anything strange. She didn't tell us in the sense that we concluded that the Americans will not retaliate. That was nonsense you see. It was nonsense to think that the Americans would not attack us. In the early hours of the 2nd of August, the whole apparatus of the leadership took precautions for an American speedy immediate retaliation.


Not only that, but the day after the invasion the UN security council made a resolution condemning the invasion. If the US didn't care we wouldn't have made the resolution.

AHHH,gotcha...Well that seems to be almost on par with the govenments current mindset,although the true reasons behind this one are more cloak and dagger due to there being no clear cut defined reasoning,except for the bullshit,"Liberate the Iraqi people" spin.I think even the most avid government supporters(if they truly anylize the day to day events leading up to and into the war)have to agree that liberating the irqi people was NEVER a reasoning to march into combat when UN negotiations were going on.There is something definiterly going on special interest wise,but like I said before,most of us will never find out the truth.

All of Iraq was a British territory, and then they did what they did with India. Divide and conquer (i.e. Pakistan & India.....Kuwait & Iraq).

History is very interesting...you should read it sometime.

Last I heard, this is the bottom line....

Kuwait bought US armed forces. They poured millions into PR to convince Americans that Saddam had done horrible things (ripping babies from incubators). When we got there, no proof of any of the alleged attrocities. The vast majority of citizens waited out the exile in comfort while Americans did the job of getting them their country back.

For all the promises of reform, I've heard very little has changed since then.

I know Kayne, but how the hell do they get wealthy from all that oil---BY SELLING IT TO THE AMERICANS, who are by far their number one customer. If America stopped purchasing oil from Kuwait entirely, that country would go down the shitter.
