How do I stop eating?

Grizzly

New member
Ok, I just started bulking again. I've been dieting for a few months and now I'm bulking. It's such a great week for me. I love it! Boy, how I love to lift heavy! Anyway, somehow, my body just keeps telling me to eat and eat and eat and eat. I could just finish an 800cal meal and ten minutes later I'm ready for more. Yesterday I ate 4850cals. And it was all clean(chicken, tuna, pasta, rice, oatmeal, yada ya). Actually, it was probably more like 5000 because I didn't bother to count a few extra raisins, the small amount of pasta sauce and the parmesan cheese. Either way, I was still starving when I went to bed. How the hell do I stop eating? Should I even care? I figure that if I'm hungry, then maybe my body needs more food, I don't know. All I know is that I've got something that resembles a few abs and I would rather enjoy keeping them. Any advice?

unfortunenatly its not the case.
I tend to get hungrier and hungrier while bulking and less hungry while cutting (though of course I am always hungry). Its much worse when bulking and since I'm gaining fat and still hungry the body certainly doesn't just use hunger as a response for being below maintenance.

Damn! I was hoping that I could use the hunger as an excuse to eat a few boxes of goldfish crackers and a half gallon of ice cream. :D So much for my dreams of the 10,000 calorie diet. :bawling:

Grizzly, most guys use their bulking time as an excuse to not only eat big, but eat crap as well. Then after three months they're on this board complaining that they've gotten too fat and want to know what to do.

You're doing it the right way so keep at it. Bulking simply means eating about 300-500 or so cals above your maintenance. So don't go nuts with it. Do it right and you'll be a lot happier with the results.

Also, I feel your pain on the diet thing. I've been at it for about two and a half months now. Gonna try to keep going til Xmas. I pretty much lift like a girl now and it SUCKS!! Come January, I'm gonna see if I can actually take the same advice I just gave you.

Good luck.

What would you say I should be eating calorie wise? I'm 6'3" 265lbs at about 10-11%bf(I'll find out for sure on Thursday). I figure around 4500. Any one else have any ideas? If it makes any difference, I plan on starting my first cycle in anywhere from 2 days to 4 weeks, depends upon when I get the shit. I hope it's monday! I was really hoping to get it today because it could have been my birthday present to myself, but no such luck.

Looks like you've done well for yourself in the past, as your stats are pretty impressive. I just finished bulking a couple of weeks ago and was eating 4500cal and gaining weight at a fairly moderate pace, so 4500 seems kinda low given your size. But as always it's best to start off slow. I'm of the opinion that if you're hungry and bulking, you should eat. The only time I got really fat while bulking was when I was force feeding myself 6000cal a day while weighing only 200lbs(I was eating a lot of crap to boot.)

dude im in the exact same fucking boat as you, im hungry all the time...the only time im not hungry is when i binge and eat everything in site, then i just feel sick. but yeah im trying to cut and im eating every 2 hours at least...even thats hard I could eat a small meal every fucking hour.

gah, its terrible my apitite has never been this big EVER...i dont know what it is..hopefully it means big gains coming.

I agree with B&I. 4500 might be low for your size. I'd go a good clean 5000 or so and see how that works for you. You still might be hungry at first, but give it a week or so, see how you adjust.

Sadly for us BB's, dieting can lead to disfunction of your appetite control. This makes it very easy to overeat and still feel hungry. This was nature's way of making sure we came out of a period of starvation and ate everything in sight so we could gain as much fat as possible before our next period of starvation.

You may need to adjust you diet as you go. Start off slowly and watch the weight:fat gain ratio. You will also be able to assimilate more cals when you're on cycle. The good news is that your body will prolly be in a very anabolic post diet state for the next couple of weeks so even without gear you should be able to make excellent lean mass gains.

I finished a bulking cycle in early October, thought I would cut my food intake immediately. Did not happen.

The first two months of my bulking cycle I ate clean and made nice gains, but it was easy to slip into sweets and simply eat everything the third month. Of course this habit is hard to break and now, just now I am starting to scale my calories back to normal.

But it is a hard habit to break. Once you have been eating a lot of calories for an extended period of time.

I did gain 20 lbs on my cycle and 15 is solid muscle.
