I graduate in August 2007 with a BS in biochemistry. However at the IU career site many employers that hire through the school ask that applicants graduate by June 2007. I cannot do that due to scheduling conflicts in Spring 2007.
My long term goal is a PhD in molecular biology or cell biology, and a research career in industry. I do not think my first career out of college would be my serious career, it would just be to break into the real working world for a few years. The goal is get a job in 2007, preferably in a biological/chemical field, work for 3-5 years, then start the PhD.
Who has advice on what plans and actions I should be looking into to get what I want? Should I be looking into certain careers to prepare me for grad school (ie, biological chemistry over analytical chemistry fields)? How do I look for a job right now even though I'm not graduating for a while? Do you think those employers would mind that I would not be graduated until August instead of June?
