How Do I Find Out About Steroid Laws In My State!!!!!!!!!!!

2Thick, I think you are a little confused about the concept of federalism. A person can be prosecuted either by the federal or the state system. It just depends on which law enforcement personnel bust you. The respective penalties for federal and state offenses differ. So does search and seizure law (the states can grant greater protection to defendants). So when you say "t falls under federal jurisdiction," you are incorrect.

JLuv--Just because you get busted for steroids does not necessarily mean that you will do jail time. What sentence you will receive will depend upon the jurisdiction's sentencing statutes, your past criminal history, your exact charges, the strength of your case, and other related factors. Going to jail is a possiblity but not a certainty.

Taurus, you need to either contact a lawyer in your state, or post in which state you live to see if any of the lawyers on this board could help you. I know New York. And I can help with New Jersey.

What I meant was that it is firs and foremost a federal law and then states can add to it. For example, according to the US Constitution, states cannot make laws that go against federal law but they can amend and add to them. So, it a state or local law enforcement agency decides to press charges it will be dealt with according to their interpretation but the federal statute cannot be undermined. In short, the federal law is the simplest direction to point.

WATCH OUT

You can actually be prosecuted under BOTH federal AND state laws. That means you could be sentenced to federal prison and to state prison for the same offense. It does NOT violate double jepordady. For the good news.... I can't imagine it ever actually happening in a AAS case.

Who busts you makes no difference. I prosecute cases made by federal agents in state court all the time. Conversely, I ahve hade a number of cases made by my local narcotics task force prosecuted by the feds.
