How do I convert a word file to PDF for email attachment?

I use a mac and have the option of "save as PDF".

If you're really stuck, you can mail it to me and I can turn it into pdf and mail it back.

The expesive way is Acrobat, but you have to buy it and it ain't cheap.

there is another one called PDF Factory, a freeware. It may leave an ad on the bottom with the e-mail address on it, but what the hell, so long as it ain't some official document who cares.

They use Macs in our computer labs, but I thought the prof implied he wanted it done outside of class.

I was waitlisted for the class and began a week late, so I'm still catching up on stuff.

Thanks!

Your conversion has completed successfully. Thanks for using Fast PDF!

Your 2-page result file is named ENGL421.pdf.

This PDF can be retrieved for a one-time fee of $2.19.

Yeah, I don't even need to print it. Just attach it to an email.

Well, printing the document is actually how it saves it as a pdf. It's printing the document to a .pdf file.

That's how the option works on the Mac, too. One goes to print and has the option of savng to a pdf file as a print job.

LOL @ "file is damaged and cannot be repaired" after I've emailed it to myself!

I'll have to ask the prof, I know I'm missing something here...

Thanks for the help!

Acrobat Elements is a cheaper program than Acrobat and will convert to pdf. There are also shareware programs but they are all a little funky.

This one looks like it might be free, being from Adobe.

SWeetness.

I talked to the prof, and he said it'd be okay to email it with the error I was recieving (as the document came out fine, except the "fatal error" box popping up).

I have time to figure things out, so I'll definitely try this.

We'll also be working with Adobe InDesign, Macromedia DreamWeaver and Macromedia FreeHand, so I'm sure I'll be posting extremely stupid questions about the basic operations of these software programs in the upcoming three months, lol.

Maybe there are some software purchases that are part of the textbook requirements for that class?

University bookstores often have killer deals on software anyway. Student pricing for a lot of these packages is practically a give-away.

but counterintuitively, for the textbooks, it's the opposite, get those from amazon. they're a ripoff in the stores.

I just hit "save as" and select pdf as the file type. No special software.

Install OpenOffice. It can save as PDF
