How can u keep Acne under control?

has anyone ever tried that Proactive gel?? does it work?

My shits coming back too. I'm on friggin HRT. Does this mean even when I drop back down to a maintenance dose(100-200mg/wk) I will still get acne?

Might sound dumb, but try some liquid dish soap. They are good at cutting grease etc.. Buy a loofa sponge on a stick so you can scrub your back.
Very cheap, and really effective at drying out the skin.
Some guys on other boards have mentioned they do this.

proactive will work for some but most no. it is basic benzol products that just dry out the skin hoping to get rid of acne that way.. just spot treatment.. wont work for more serious acne. it is just marketed some damn well ..
doesnt shrink the oil glands and thats about the only way to get rid of acne.. antibotics just kill the bacteria and may help for some but with antiboitics the ACNE can come back even worse down the road.

try some retin A micro (.1%) and use it EVERYOTHER day (ED may cause really redess and this is a strong product.. i will warn u, u may break out in the first few weeks with it since it pushes alot of the bad stuff in ur skin to the surface...

but if that fails id go with accutane...

but before accutane try b5 also known as panthonic acid.. 5-20 grams is the dosing on that

Try Dial antibacteria liquid gel soap. It comes as an orange liquid made by Dial. It worked wonders for me. After about three days I noticed a considerable difference.

here is what will happen to an acne prone person
1. they wash with dish soap
2. face gets really dried out and skin looks broken
3. body creates more oil to overcome the dry cracked skin
4. oil on skin = more acne + plus on top of the already red dried out skin
5. not very pretty

low to moderate doses of accutane maybe 100 mg spplited trough the week lets say 10 mg monday trough friday, then rest sat -sun .
once you get the acne under control you can do as low as 60 mg a wk 20 mg eod.

nothing works better , no side effects at all, use a moisterizer cream like neutrogena and drink lots of water and cosume fiber.

again tanning is also a bad idea..

tanning will help at first and help the redness go down and hide some ur zits but in the end its a bad idea

here is why
1. u go tanning and dries out your skin
2. body produces more oil = more oil = more acne
3. also tanning breaks down colligen production in ur skin which is bad for acne for trying to heel.. will make red marks even worse over time

also tanning beds age ur skin, which is worse then acne

I'm considering something along those lines very soon.. although I'm having to get it UG from IBE because I can't get any derm around me to prescribe it due to all the new lawsuits and controversy about it.. I keep saying I'm not worried about getting pregnant.. LoL.. anyway..

What i'm getting is liquid accutane, which i've heard nothing but good things about and all their other products have been dead on.. it's 20mg/ml and 30ml.. so it's not very much.. I am currently on Dynacin (minocycline tablets), Finacea (a roscea and acne medication, works great for clearing up redness but can cause SEVERE itching).. and benzoyl peroxide 2.5%.. this combination works pretty well but I've always had severe acne and extremely oily skin.. so I need something else now..

I am thinking of running something like a low dose 20mg/day for 30 days.. one bottle.. along with my current regimin.. i have plenty of good facial lotions and lip balms for the dryness that accutane causes.. then I plan on going back on cycle but I don't want the severe acne with scarring that I got last time I cycled.. so I'm going to run 20mg/eod.. just to keep the oil production down and help out the whole host of other things I'm taking.. I know accutane is usually taken in much higher dosages but I cannot get it prescribed nor afford to take that amount.. so I'm going to see how this works and I'll certainly post my results..

What also works good for someone with mild to moderate acne.. is a Benzoyl Peroxide lotion that is 2.5% and use it twice a day and use a LOT.. doesn't overly irritate and can clear up some acne hella quick.. but for someone like me that alone does not cut it but it worked suprisingly well considering it's OTC.. anyway.. good luck man.. and i'll let ya'll know how that low dose of tane works..

If you want to pursue the topical route, you can try Differin gel. It works good for me and it isn't nearly as harsh as Retin-A. Retin-A (tretinoin) worked good for me as a teenager (I had it pretty bad then), but can make your skin super dry and red. It comes in 3 strengths (.25%, .50%, and 1%). I think I had the best results with the cream at .5%. The gel seems to add to the drying out effect.

they prescribe accutane willingly around here. Its not the doctors who are to blame its the people who use the accutane.

Accutane = the best acne solution there is

Damn man.. I wish.. i've had a field day with all the different derms in my area.. i know more about some of the treatments than most of them.. because i've done my research and have tried about a million different things.. they all are worried about accutane being pulled from the market and all the new uproar about the side effects which i think are blown WAY out of proportion.. there are side effects to everything if you don't use it smart or take necessary precautions.. anyway.. they all want me to try different antibiotics that barely work.. and different topicals that somewhat work.. but I need something serious.. and accutane is the choice.. ha ha.. I just hope even the low dose can help out.. i mean the current things i am already using are helping but I need something to give it a little extra kick and I'm hoping low dose accutane can do the trick.. and especially that eod dosing during my cycle.. just to keep me from MAJORLY breaking out like last time.. but we'll see..

It will dry out your skin after a while. Your body will react by producing more oils and escalate the acne.

Try OTC - Sal-Ac wash. Its and acne wash that is usually special order by a pharma. But OTC

If you can get a Rx - Rousola Wash along w/a antibiotic for acne will also help.

Best bet, go to a derm get a Rx w/refills and make sure you have acne meds on hand b4 you start the cycle.
