Are those scales that do BMI, BMR, and BF%? This was mine last night....

Age: 31
Height: 5'9"
weight: 189 lbs
BMI: 27.9
BMR: 8018 kj
1916 kcal
Impedance: 451 ohms
Fat%: 15%
Fat Mass: 29.5 lbs
FFM: 159.5 lb
TBW: 117.0 lb

Thats the print out it gave me at the gym.
 
SO whats with the kcals? Is that maintenance cals? So according to this thing i should be @ 1700 do be in a cutting deficit?

Based on what I see your BMR is 1916, and this is the level of calories you would burn if you did nothing all day. Throw in exercise you would need to consume more just to stay even.

That said, if you did not work out, yes you would probably need to consume 1700 calories or less to lose weight.

If you are working out regularly those numbers do not mean a thing. BBers are different all together. If you want too lose fat while maintaining muscle mass you may need to consume more calories than what the scale says.

Also, it is not the number in calories that you consumer that dictates how much weight you lose, it is the types of calories consumed. A normal American who eats a diet high in fat and sugar could eat 1916 calories per day and gain weight. Cut it down to 100g of carbs, 75-100g of fat and the rest is protein (clean foods), 1700 calories a day will get you shredded.
